Polands first post communist leader was a dissident union leader. Czechos first post Communist leader was a dissident writer. Only later where they followed by reformist ex-Communists. In Russia, the Soviet era dissidents were sidelined, and the first post-Communist leader WAS a reformist ex-Communist. Is it surprising then, that he was succeeeded by an Ex-KGB agent commited to "sovereign democracy"?
