Actually, having seen the before and after pictures of the statue in question, there is no doubt in my mind: The (ethnic) Estonians are the ones being *******s here, not the Russians.

I think a man like Wycoff ought to post more on these boards.

There were some polish scientists that claimed all Russians and russian culture are descendants from Mongols, not Ruthenia, so be careful there...

Blah... I can easily find you a couple of scientists that claim that modern Poles are more Jews than Slavs, so?

                    • but these are russian scientists. Who'd bolieve a mongol scientist, and who'd believe a jewish one?

You seem to do not realise that this place is the military grave yard. The monument appeared there becuse it's the place where soldiers are buried. Now the local authorithies not only destroyed the monument, they are excavating the graves of soldiers who died in war vs. nazism.
Btw, in case if you don't know, in this war we fought on the same side. Now imagine some Jaga-Jaga tribe on some kind of island in the Pacific is digging the graves of American soldiers who died in fight vs. Imperial Japan and destroying the monument in their honour.
What your reaction will be? Isn't it their domestic issue? No?

Exhibit A to prove Russian media doesn't care about facts - the statue was RELOCATED, rpt, RELOCATED, not destroyed.

Exhibit B - not excavating but reburying from under a bus stop to a proper graveyard next to their comrades in arms.

This whole thing is naked aggression against Estonia.

                              • That would change things a lot, had the statue been destroyed or handled with great disrespect. But since it was not, it was just moved to another place, military grave yard, where it IMO belongs in the first place.

Sure, it still might be a bit upsetting for many. But not so much that states needs to be involved.
