You seem to do not realise that this place is the military grave yard. The monument appeared there becuse it's the place where soldiers are buried. Now the local authorithies not only destroyed the monument, they are excavating the graves of soldiers who died in war vs. nazism.
Btw, in case if you don't know, in this war we fought on the same side. Now imagine some Jaga-Jaga tribe on some kind of island in the Pacific is digging the graves of American soldiers who died in fight vs. Imperial Japan and destroying the monument in their honour.
What your reaction will be? Isn't it their domestic issue? No?
I'm not certain Americans would care much if one of their war time monuments and the graves associated with it were relocated to another grave site containing the graves of other US soldiers. It would have to be done with obvious disrespect or destruction to bother them IMHO.

The unknown soldier, resting calmly in the war cemetery. What was the issue again?

Well, Estonia has asked for EU's help now, since they can't get help with anything right now. We'll see what EU is good for, when a member is asking for help in a tricky situation.
My guess? Zip. Nada. Take care. Bye bye.

Polish president declared solidarity with Estonia.
Members of Kremlin - controlled youth organisations attacked estonian embassy and burned estonian flag. They vowed for boycott of estonian and polish products, some even declared will to march on Tallinn and Warsaw.

Also, the visiting delegation is blaming Estonia for torturing some captives from the riots.
Uh, oh, yeah right. Who believes this stuff? That aggressor Estonia sure is provoking for ... a good reason we are about to learn maybe ... tomorrow?

The only reason why the EU should be supportive of Estonia is because of Russia's reaction.
Other than that, Estonia's handling of its russophone minority is abysmal by EU standards. If Estonia had been held by the same standards as Turkey, this issue would have prevented it from joining the EU in the first place.

hrmm
and this is before?
from those views I'd have to agree that the statue seems to be make a more poignant statement in it's new setting.
Now were there any signs of disrespect when the graves were relocated? Are we certain no other components of the memorial were destroyed? All there was was the statue?

Apparently, the Estonians are also planning to move that wall that was behind the statue to the cemetery, so that the statue is again against the same wall.
