Actually that could work though he'd undoubtly come home with an Asian wife and more confused about religion then ever.

Others have said it, but I'll chime in:

What you have to sell is not the subject you studied (though you could sell that to a school, archive, or historical society), but the skill set you built to get your degree.

What can you do? Well, if you, your program, and your school were any good, you should have excellent writing and research skills; you should have the ability to sort and sythesize vast amounts of disparate info; you should have the ability to turn specialized and sometimes arcane information into something understandable to a broader public. That's what historians do. That's also what the vast, vast majority of workers in the public and private sectors do, including pretty nearly everybody making truly big bucks (remember that almost all Fortune 500 CEOs are liberal arts grads). Don't sell the degree -- sell what you can do, and present the degree as proof you can do it.

I really don't think I could get an Asian gal to fall for me. They usually like the more outspoken guys.

I've considered taking a contract overseas, but it would be impractical unless it was a short contract. Too much expense involved with little guarantee and plenty of disadvantages.

As little as possible honestly. I'm planning on taking off later, I'd consider one move and then another but probably better to stay where I am and save as much as possible.

What were your thoughts Vetlegion? You are out in Croatia aren't you?

Naw, give yourself some credit. If you went to Thailand or IndoChina the locals would all think you were a rich foreigner (after all you could afford to visit their country, right?) and so they'd all be throwing their daughters at you and the, rather hot, educated girls would chase after you thinking you'd treat them better then the local guys would. That's my experience with both southeast Asia and Korea having spent a fair amount of time in both places.

The sole exception seems to be the Japanese girls who are rich enough and indoctrinated in the belief of their superior culture enough not to want to marry foreigners in many cases. That doesn't mean Japanese girls don't want to have flings with blue eyed foreigners though. Bonus points if you have blond hair.

Yes, but then you were a soldier too so I think that's rather different.

I'm a very small guy really. I'm only 5'5'' and about 130, so the average Korean will be about my height and build.

If it were the Phillippines I'd agree with you but elsewhere, no.

Nope. I have blue eyes tho. I can't really see me being happy in Korea, I know my mom was but for me I'd be much more likely to be happy in the phils if I went anywhere in that area of the world.

I thought this was going to be the most inaccurate statement about Asian women in the thread, but then Oerdin came to the rescue...

It's the skills, not the specific degree.
