If by meek you mean cowering and letting everyone walk all over you certainly not. But thats only because that's not the Bible's definition of meek. Meek in the Biblical sense means fearing the true LORD God. It does not mean being a whimp or failing to defend your point of view. For examples of what the Bible means by meek look in the scripture.

The meek King David, a man after God's own heart, had no problem fighting against the gigantic Goliath. This was because meek doesn't mean fearful and whimpy, it means being in submission to the true God, and this David certainly was! The Apostles were not meek in your sense, they went to the ends of the earth spreading their gospel and fighting unbelief.

God never issued a general command telling people to give up what they have and follow him. That was for one individual and was a command specifically to him, because of the special circumstances of the time. The point of that passage is, when it is needed, Christ expects you to give it all up for His name, even to the point of martyrdom.

As far as Japan and China- your presuppositions are blinding you to texts that are blatantly obvious. Incase you didn't notice, God said that when His covenant nations become UNFAITHFUL, He raises up unbelievers to be more powerful than them as a punishment. China is becoming powerful because of the increasing unfaithfulness of the United States and Europe.

Abraham, who was a man after God's own heart- was blessed abundantly as is virtually every saint- both in this life and the life to come.

33 And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on. This idea that God expects everyone to become poor is a myth. Unbelievers love to pretend He does so that Christians become subservient and unthreatening to their atheist belief system. Christ actually states the opposite numerous times- that if you trust in Him you will be provided for, and then some. The one thing Christ did not promise is that His people would be free from battling with the devil- and this would involve persecutions and martyrdoms. Those who have to undergo those trials face incredible incredible riches in the life to come, because they gave up so much in this life in following Him.

Christ wants to bless His people with all good things, in this life and the life to come. Just as there are inequalities in this life, so there will be inequalities in heaven. Those who had to give up much in this life to follow Him due to persecutions will get more in heaven. Those who are most obedient to His commands will generally have the most treasure both in this life and in heaven.

The golden rule is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The greatest favor you can do for anyone is to teach them the gospel and show them all the incentives for believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, and what a good Lord He is. Would you ignore a friend who is walking into a pit of flames? Of course not. We preach the gospel out of love so that God will open some hearts and they will come to the truth. That is why I wrote that message. I am showing you the proofs of God's working in history and His active power among His people.

On the CNN show 'Equal Time' recently, the homophobic Oliver North ranted and raved and foamed at the mouth about gays and lesbians and how God's 'word' in Leviticus calls them 'sinners'.

Don't you just love the biblical clowns who say "the bible is true... every word...and we live by that book...yes sir..we do, by gawd..and it says right there in Leviticus l8:22 that 'you shall not lie with a male as with a woman...yes sir...that's what God said."

Hey boy..hot dog...if we live by that archaic, superstitious and ignorant book..well wow..just look at who else is going to burn in hell.

Ah, what fun! Practically all of the Republican leaders in Washington, that's who. "God said...you shall not marry a woman divorced from her husband." (2l:7) Hot damn..how I love that bible. There goes Reagan, Dole, Gingrich, Buchanan, Barr and I could name dozens more of those big shots who have broken God's law and married divorced women. They gonna burn in hell boy. That's what the bible says..and we live by that book.. yes by gawd, we surely do.

First of all, you don't need to be a Calvinist to be a Christian. To be a Christian you need to trust in Jesus Christ by faith alone for the forgiveness of all of your sins- especially as pertains to faith in his crucifixion, death, and resurrection! Therefore baptists and many others who are unclear on the Biblical truth of predestination would be counted as among the elect, even if they don't understand the concept of predestination or election.

Secondly, even for those who are no longer Christian or have defected to an apostate liberal Christian denomination- God promises to bless the children of a faithful person for a number of generations after that person. Therefore, it is quite possible for a person to be rich because he is "free riding" on the blessings that God promised to that person's parents, or grandparents, or great grandparents and not because of any faith or obedience of his own.

Okay, so where do Catholics fit into this scheme? Are they among those who will be saved as Christians, or among the 'liberal Christians?' I can certainly see how Catholics could exclude Calvinists, as fostering apostasy. How do you defend Calvin's decision to break with the church, and with Luther?

Secondly, as for Sola Fidae, have you read James? He says that you work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

actually the law applies only to wool and linen. And yes, you can get clothing certified to be free of any such mixture, by an inspector trained in relevant Jewish law.

I KNOW it galls the hell out of liberal Christians (and others) when fundies quote the homosexuality ban from Leviticus while ignoring the rest of the holiness code - but it galls the hell out of me when people take the holiness code out of the context of Jewish law and make fun of it, to use as a weapon against the fundies. I mean im sorry there are all these fundies and all that, but Leviticus (veyikra) is NOT a joke - its one of the fundamental texts of the JEWISH religion, which, as we have read it and interpreted it, is the source of deep spiritual lessons.
