The greatest favor you can do for anyone is to teach them the gospel and show them all the incentives for believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, and what a good Lord He is. Would you ignore a friend who is walking into a pit of flames? We preach the gospel out of love so that God will open some hearts and they will come to the truth. In hindsight don't you see a more tactful effective way? A disrespectful preacher is not a more effective preacher. Even if your real person-to-person social skills are horrible, why would you think Apolyton would be the most effective medium???

well, philosoopher is a troll
but that is something I agree with
people yelling on a street corner, or browbeating people aren't doing God's work
they aren't spreading the message, the message isn't being heard...
if anything, the opposite message is being conveyed...

You're missing the real point, Pyrodew. After reading the average Philosophiser post and trying to follow the logic, your average person immediately clenches his head in his hands and exclaims, and I quote here: "Jesus, my brain hurts!" So, simply by posting a few dozen lines on the internet, Philo has managed to get countless atheists praying to their savior, albeit unwittingly.

That's what I suspected. Yet as evidence in this thread you're not opening hearts or even curiousity, but perhaps the opposite. Look at the fruits of your labor. How old are you? You remind me of inept Puddy from Seinfeld blurting out to Elaine she's going to Hell so all she does is get pissed. In hindsight don't you see a more tactful effective way? Similar examples- for all of Moses' exhortations hardly any Israelites remained obedient to God. Also see Jeremiah the weeping prophet who everyone ignored, and Isaiah. Unless God opens your eyes, you cannot believe.
"And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed." (Acts 13:48)
"Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, God hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them." John 12:39,40.Last edited by Guest; December 8, 2005, 19:43.

Okay, so where do Catholics fit into this scheme? Are they among those who will be saved as Christians, or among the 'liberal Christians?' I can certainly see how Catholics could exclude Calvinists, as fostering apostasy. How do you defend Calvin's decision to break with the church, and with Luther?
Secondly, as for Sola Fidae, have you read James? He says that you work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Idolaters will go into the lake of fire. If you are one of those traditional Catholics then the best thing for you to do is smash all the idols in your Latin Mass chapel and convert to the true gospel. IF you are one of those Vatican II Catholics then just talk to your priest and see if he even believes the resurrection was an historical event. Most Vatican II priests are homosexual modernists who often do not even believe in the divine infallibility and inspiration of the Holy Scripture.Last edited by Guest; December 8, 2005, 19:41.

Your ranchers have had it, and farmers. Like, I mean HAD IT. Leviticus l9:l9 orders that "you shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind." Hot dawg, how I love that God. He tells those ranchers.."now Claude...I seen you cross breeding them Charolais and Angus. Hot damn.. Claude..boy...you are burning in hell forever."
What's next? Oh my, all the clothing stores, fabric shops, clothing designers, all headed for hell. Tears flood my eyes. "You shall never wear a garment of cloth made of two different kinds of material." (l9:l9) Hey God, I got shirts and jackets of linen and wool, silk and cotton.. and all of us nice people who like mixing fabrics are going to you know where? Jeez...and we have just barely started listing the sinners... That God...He must have a terrific sense of humor. I say 'He' for no Goddess would issue such a list of crank, stupid and ignorant commands.
Hey, Nancy Reagan, have you read about your sinful life? "Do not turn to mediums or be defiled by them." (l9:3l) Well, there goes the Astrology that you and Ronnie lived by.
Before I run out of space, here is the best for all of your smart aleck kids. If they sass you...why just kill 'em. Forget that sissy stuff like cutting their allowance. Just kill them. That God was the original Judge Roy Bean. (Lev:20:9)
All of you Oliver North, Jerry Falwell, Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, James Dobson fundamentalist biblical phonies, if you say Leviticus is God's word on Gays and Lesbians, than the entire book is obviously God's word to anyone with an I.Q. above 3 .........
So LIVE IT. WALK THE TALK...OR GET OFF IT.

I urge everyone to consider the reality of a life without Christ- it is a life of meaninglessness, a life of aimlessness, a life of darkness, and eventually- a life of eternal damnation. Repent and believe the gospel! Christ challenges all men this day to believe in Him. Thats all it takes to be set free. To believe that He died to pay for all the sins you've committed, and has risen again defeating all punishments you had, and is now sitting at the Father in Glory. If you believe in Christ, then you are one of the elect, and your sins have been transferred to Him, so that He paid the full penalty for them on the Cross. And His Righteousness is transferred to you, so that you are totally guiltless and perfect in God's sight.

I can certainly see how Catholics could exclude Calvinists, as fostering apostasy. How do you defend Calvin's decision to break with the church, and with Luther?
Secondly, as for Sola Fidae, have you read James? He says that you work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24)
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. (Acts 10:43)
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (Romans 3)
So what is James talking about? Hes not talking about Justification before God, but JUSTIFICATION BEFORE MEN. Hes saying- "well you claim to believe in Jesus, but I don't believe it unless you show my your faith by your deeds. So if you want to justify yourself before me, you need to show me that God is working in you and your faith is real."
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Notice he says... the man SAYS you have faith.... well James says thats not good enough for men, we need to see faith in action.
James= Justification before men. Also, another important point that James is making is that whoever truly believes in Jesus Christ will have the Holy Spirit working in Him. The Holy Spirit inevitably produces "good fruit" or good deeds, which is the proof that a person truly believes. John states it this way:
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (1 John 3)
