    • Secondly, as for Sola Fidae, have you read James? He says that you work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
And alot of pain and death

You remind me of inept Puddy from Seinfeld blurting out to Elaine she's going to Hell so all she does is get pissed.
A great scene, then Puddy finds out he's goin to hell too and Elaine gives him the devil face and tongue.

The gospel of salvation by works is not what is taught in the Bible.
Then why did Jesus spend so much of his time telling people how to behave? I'd be more impressed by the person who actually lived as he advised than the person who didn't but said all he needs is "faith" in Jesus.

The animal and fibre separation laws were symbols meant to remind the Jews to be a separated people from the Gentile heathen nations. Now that the gospel has come to the Gentiles, such symbolic ceremonial laws are no longer necessary.
Any experts on Jewish religion here to confirm that? Sounds like a good explanation to me.

The only law that remains binding today are those laws taught in the New Covenant.
What laws? Jesus spent more time criticising laws than making them. He didn't even suggest the adulteress should be punished and that was a death penalty offense.

      • If I convert can I still sacrific goats to the elder gods? Also giving up premarital sex would be a deal breaker. What if I just felt really bad about it afterwards? Would that be ok?

So you believe social skills, manners and tact have no bearing on the quality of a preacher?

If your duty is simply preach & you believe it to be very important why wouldn't you want to do that in the most efficient and effective manner possible?

As a preacher how many of your threads you've started in forums has God worked through to win someone over? Surely you've had better results than this thread, so post a couple links.

            • Technically, of course, this means that if a random street lunatic chooses to scream mindlessly about the bible all day, every day, he's the greatest preacher ever regardless of success rate...

You should be focusing less on my preaching style and more on the salvation of your soul- because right now you are fast on track to eternal damnation for as long as you oppose the truth.

Psssht. I'm sure it'd be much better if I were a Pharisee who selectively interprets the Bible while calling it "literal," takes open glee at the thought of judging others, and for some reason thinks salvation is achieved not by faith OR works, but by acknowledging a simple concept. I believe in the resurrection of Christ, I'm just not smug, self-satisfied, hateful and complacent about it. The Kingdom of Heaven has been likened unto many things, but never a gang affiliation wherein if you just know the secret handshake you get in the club, no questions asked. Somehow I suspect the Almighty wants more than lip service.

You might be surprised what I've seen people take seriously, like Osama Bin Ladin as their hero or flying a plane into a building in the middle east for revenge. And those times I thought they were joking. You can't expect sarcasm over the internet (especially without emoticons) to work 100% of the time.

Ah, what fun! Practically all of the Republican leaders in Washington, that's who. "God said...you shall not marry a woman divorced from her husband." (2l:7) Hot damn..how I love that bible. There goes Reagan, Dole, Gingrich, Buchanan, Barr and I could name dozens more of those big shots who have broken God's law and married divorced women. They gonna burn in hell boy. That's what the bible says..and we live by that book.. yes by gawd, we surely do.

Before I say too much- I want to ask you a few questions since you claim to believe in Christ. Do you accept His word? Do you accept Romans 9, and the teaching of predestination?

You should know that the saints are allowed to judge, and it is not forbidden to do so. We are not to judge inappropriately, but we are to judge righteously.

If you reject Romans 9, predestination, or the Holy Bible then I judge you to be blasphemer, there being a good chance you are not the Christian that you claim to be. You seem to exalt unbelieving moral systems, as you did in that last thread, which makes you suspect to me. What makes you even more suspect is that you've done nothing to exalt Christ this entire time, and in fact you defend unbelieving reprobates while posturing yourself against a brother in Christ. All of this is evidence of bad fruit, and bad fruit is evidence that someone is a liar and a fake believer, and does not really believe. (Matthew 7, 1 John 3).

Also, you claim I have "selectively quoted passages", I would ask you to point out which passages were selectively quoted and which you think I am ignoring.

As for judging, we need only look to the word of God to determine whether believers are allowed to judge:

"Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? " (1 Corinthians 6:2)

"Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Corinthians 6:3)

                                "judge righteous judgment." (John 7:24)

FINALLY, John Calvin and the gospel do not teach that faith exists apart from works. As I quoted above, and as I definitively teach (and you lie claiming I don't teach it)- there is no such thing as faith without works. If you are born again you will bear fruit to God and you cannot sin in your heart. But those works are not the foundation of justification, but the fruit of justification. They increase your justification, but faith apart from the works of the law is the basis of justification. The moment you truly trust in Christ as your savior is the moment you are justified. Works inevitably come because when you are justified you are born again, and the Holy Spirit comes to you and gives you a new heart.
