I dunno why, but unlike all the other proselytizing christians/religionists that have posted here occasionally, I can actually read all the way through CivNation's posts and be mildly interested the whole time.

People are forgetting a very important thing about those who defect from the true gospel as well as the percentage of Christians that are specifically "Calvinist".
First of all, you don't need to be a Calvinist to be a Christian. To be a Christian you need to trust in Jesus Christ by faith alone for the forgiveness of all of your sins- especially as pertains to faith in his crucifixion, death, and resurrection! Therefore baptists and many others who are unclear on the Biblical truth of predestination would be counted as among the elect, even if they don't understand the concept of predestination or election.
Secondly, even for those who are no longer Christian or have defected to an apostate liberal Christian denomination- God promises to bless the children of a faithful person for a number of generations after that person. Therefore, it is quite possible for a person to be rich because he is "free riding" on the blessings that God promised to that person's parents, or grandparents, or great grandparents and not because of any faith or obedience of his own.
In fact, it is my prediction that because of Europe's incredible apostasy from the Christian faith, it has about one or two more generations before it totally disintegrates under the wrath of God and becomes subject to incredible Divine Judgments. The only reason why it is staying afloat now is because of the previous faithfulness of many of the grandparents and great grandparents of these now apostate Europeans.
For information on Calvinism and the truths of God, and the blessings of the Lord, I refer you to www.chalcedon.edu and all of the wonderful books published by the late Calvinist Rushdoony. Gary North is also an excellent source on Christian Economics."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

Just as God curses unto the third and fourth, so He will bless in the same way because of His goodness. The next generational cursing could be negated by teh faithfulness of that next generation, but usually God hardens the wicked heart of that next generation and therefore it is unable to believe.
The last truly faithful European generation was probably the generation just prior to WWI. We're looking at total European disintegration into a worldclass laughingstock probably in the next 50 years. Europe is already a statist regime that exhibits almost 0 economic growth and is characterized by a population that is dwindling in number against a large influx of Muslim immigrants. The LORD is causing Europe to crumble before her enemies because of its rampant unfaithful mocking of God.

Well, if you say so. I think that there is a little bit more to it than that. In my life I have seen many over-simplifying so-called fundamentalists use this interpretation as an excuse for despicable behavior, such as bigotry and race hatred. How often have I heard this from people selling hate to the unsuspecting? Use to be that all these apostate liberal Christian denominations were guilty of was having the temerity to suggest that black people were entitled to equal treatment under the law. How does this jibe with assertions elsewhere in the new testament that each individual has to decide for himself that he will accept and follow Christ? Besides, what has being rich have to do with anything in Christianity? Jesus made his view about wealth abundantly clear many times over. Is it possible that you, sir, are simply not "poor in spirit?" You'd do better to look after your own soul. I'd rather stick to real Christianity. Try some C.S. Lewis sometime.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1)
Secondly, I too disagree with racism. The Holy Word of God mentions nothing about racism, nor does it condone racism.
You seem to have very little knowledge of what the Holy Bible actually teaches. I would recommend you sit down and actually read it, instead of speak out of theological ignorance.
Being poor in Spirit has absolutely nothing to do with having a defeatest attitude or deliberately keeping yourself poor! It has to do with recognizing your sins before God and the need of a Messiah. Christ blesses the poor specifically because He states they shall be made rich after being faithful to Him. This refers not only to heaven, but also to earth. As Christ said "Seek first the Kingdom, and all these other things will be added unto you."Last edited by Guest; December 8, 2005, 00:26.

Covenantal Blessings and Cursings
Leviticus 26
1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. 2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD. 3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; 4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. 6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid F59 evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. 7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. 10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new. 11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. 13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; 15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: 16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. 18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: 20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. 21 And if ye walk contrary F60 unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. 22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. 23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; 24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. 25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. 26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. 27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; 28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. 29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. 31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. 32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. 33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. 34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. 36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken F61 leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. 37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies. 38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. 39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; 41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. 43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. 44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God. 45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD. 46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

Ah, yes... Leviticus. Leviticus says we are to stone to death the unbelievers (meaning nonjews) and those who do not keep the sabbath. I have a group of Christians living down the street; can I stone them to death with any old rock or is there a particular type of stone I should use to kill them. I really want to get into heaven so I want to make sure I get this one right.
Anyway, the covenant has passed to the Christians- but with a few modifications. As a result the law applies to them, except to the extent of the abrogated ceremonial provisions which are fulfilled in Christ. The ceremonial provisions included everything pertaining to the Jewish temple at Jerusalem and its attendant animal sacrifices. These were all fulfilled in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, and were actually temporary prophecies pointing to Christ. This is why the Jewish Temple was destroyed in 70AD, one generation after the crucifixion of Christ- because the temple and ceremonial sacrifices were no longer necessary. Therefore, God sent the Roman armies to judge Jerusalem and end the Old Covenant sacrifices.
The moral and judicial laws retain validity. The judicial laws, while not having to be enforced by a Christian state, nevertheless present wise blueprints to follow. The stoning statutes are part of the judicial law, and stoning was to be enforced at the behest of an appointed Judge/Magistrate who has decided the case. The judicial law of God certainly can be considered superior to any penal system devised by man. I would put it to you that crime would be significantly reduced and freedom and prosperity would reign if Biblical judicial law were instituted.
The moral law, as made clear in the New Testament, is totally binding on Christians. Also, the New Testament makes clear that the covenant cursings and blessings continue as well as I pointed out in the first post of this thread.Last edited by Guest; December 8, 2005, 01:06.
