The Oscars aren't the time or place for politics. Come on, they're the Oscars. I'm all for movie stars protesting, declaiming, and so forth, but why spoil something that is nothing more than a celebration of commercialism?
The problem with Mikey is that he's the only one who's there who isn't being celebrated for being fictitious, and he misses the larger purpose of the event, which is to lose touch with reality for a while.
When Moore gets on stage he's going to talk politics.
His films are political, his books are political and everything about the man is political.
Good for him. He knew it wasn't going to be popular with the live audience (not necessarily the message...but the stage he chose for it) and he did it anyway.
He's in the right, and it doesn't really matter who booed and who clapped. He's proven himself as a steady voice for an ideal with this act, in my mind.
