  • I'd just push her away, if I had to do anything. That way, the force is spread so there is less chance of her getting hurt.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

      • Bunnygrrl comes from a strong matriarchal family. While I might be able to outpower her, her mother, her aunts, a few of her cousins, and maybe even her grandmother could take me out. I am well aware of the power of a woman.

I'm not a pacifist either, but there are other ways to defend yourself than inflecting physical harm on someone. You can walk or run away, for example. You can push the person away. You can dodge until they feel foolish. Physical violence, even in self-defence, should be a last resort.

Besdies, she might have bigger friends and family who might not see things the way you do. Or the police might not take your word that you were defending yourself.

You must at least like liver and onions.

            • One other thing about chivalry I never got:

Watch your mouth in front of a lady. Well women curse just as much as men these days (as well they should), so what's the point of that anymore?

              • It's not good to cuss in general. It also makes you seem less mature. And I don't know about you, but I can't stand little girls (and boys) cussing when there is little reason to.

                  • I didn't have real pizza until I went north, that is for sure. The closest thing the South has to a decent pizza chain is the regional "Mellow Mushroom" chain of pizzerias (1 in Athens GA, a few in Atlanta, 1 in Knoxville, some others probably) where the ingredients are different from the other pizzerias... they're fresh.

Hey, Imran! My wife bought a child-rearing book a few months ago after the baby was born and is really trying to follow it's precepts... How to Raise a Lady. Here are some heartless, cruel rules for you to get into a lather about and bring up at the next Womyn's Issue Awareness Raising meeting (or wherever you're getting your indoctrination):

... Always, always use "Please", "Thank You", and "You're Welcome."

... Non-familial adults should always be addressed by "Sir" or "Ma'am." This should last as a blanket rule until the age of 15 or so, then the child should be allowed to make allowances (as well as if the adult asks otherwise).

... she must remove all headgear (except for kerchiefs) upon sitting down to eat.

... she must bow her head and is respectful of any blessing before meals, regardless of faith.

... While introductions are being performed, she does not roll her eyes, scowl, or otherwise show extreme displeasure when an adult relative is determined to pinch her cheek, pat her head, or hug her, but simply puts up with it the best she can. She will be confronted with far more unappealing social situations later in her life.

                    Rules for the parents:

... Always, always use "Please", "Thank You", and "You're Welcome".

... Never, ever correct your child in public on his/her manners.

... Always knock before entering their room, even for 3 year olds.

... Let your child know when a discussion has become a decision.

... Always include your daughter when performing introductions.

I like cursing too, but it is used too often in many cases. The words lose their impact for when they really need to be used.

These are the only two I have a problem with.

                        • I like bad manners then .

I don't understand why these certain words are banned. Makes no sense... other than, we've been doing it for years.

And why do you remove your hat while eating? So your cap doesn't get dirty ? And I've never called anyone 'Sir' or "Ma'am' unless I'm at work .

I have a problem with the first one as well. The 2nd one, well I can see why. Spare the manners of the family relative, you'll have to deal with them later.

                            • Having grown up watching Xena, Buffy, and the like, I would never hit a woman. There's the risk she'll pull out a sword and chop my head off.

Slapping, pulling hair, and scratching are all fair game however.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

They are censored hear because otherwise someone's parents might send a nasty e-mail to Apolyton. Not that anything bad would really happen, it just isn't worth it. And besides, seeing the word that is short for Richard censored is funny.

And why do you remove your hat while eating?
Wearing a hat means that you want to be somewhere else because you want to leave the eating area as soon as possible. Guys are expected to do this too.

It's just that I've heard too many accounts of girls getting abused by their realitives.
