      • Jeez, Paikitis it's about dominating miltary planes not your anti US agenda;

My vote would go to the Zero at the start of WW2, if not that the F14.

                • Now I like news like this and I am appreciative of things America has done for Greece - always for its own interests but still, give credit where credit is due.

I am not a blind anti-american. But respect for other countries and a no-**** you all attitude and not trying to prove anything can get you far further than just attacking anyone in sight. Don't verify other people's conceptions or misconceptions.

                  Bush Marks Greek Independence Day
Mon Mar 25, 2:54 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) marked the 181st anniversary of Greek independence on Monday by celebrating Greece's contributions to democracy and thanking Athens for its support in the war on terrorism.

"Greece and America have been firm allies in the great struggles for liberty," Bush said. "As the 21st century dawns, Greece and America are once again standing united; this time in the fight against terrorism."

Meeting with Greek diplomats and leaders in the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House, Bush expressed U.S. appreciation for access to the Souda Bay military base in Crete and Greece's contribution of a naval frigate for patrolling the Arabian Sea.

"America and Greece are strong allies and we're strategic partners," Bush said. "Our nation has been inspired by Greek ideas and enriched by Greek immigrants."

The ceremony marked the anniversary of the 1821 revolution in which Greeks regained their freedom and declared independence after 400 years of domination by the Ottoman Empire.

Chris, the Soviet Union fell in 1991.
What fell in 1989 was the Warsow Pact and most Eastern European countries overthrown communism and called for democratic elections.
Even when Soviet Union fell in 1991 a federation took its place.

Serb, perhaps Chris took the interview after the Soviet Union fell.

                      • Serb,

regarding Russian air superiority I think you exaggerate a bit.
I might not be an expert on aircrafts but I used to read a lot about military weaponry in the past. I have read some articles on the issue and as far as I know the American aircrafts were better than the Soviet\Russian's. That doesn't mean that your aircrafts were crap as some here have claimed. Soviet aircrafts designed during the 70s and 80s were very good and NATO were always greatly worried of the results of a possible conflict between the two airforces. The examples of conflicts between US made and Soviet made aircrafts in the Middle East are too poor to make conclusions. Syrian and Iraqi pilots were infefior than their opponents. Even if they had flew the same aircafts as the Israeli or NATO pilots had the results would have been more or less the same.

Regarding Soviets steeling technology from the West it is a well known story. It is not propaganda, it is a fact. Soviets did stolen lot of Western technology. KGB was a very capable secret service, the best during the Cold War and made the Western secret services feeling pretty fool of themselves lot of times.
However many things Soviets have accomplished are their design and in some areas surpass the Westerns.

From some people here, this wouldn't even draw notice from me, nor would the deluge of crap that follows it.
Coming from you though, I have to express my dismay.

That was what Chris62 in the heat of the battle said about Serbia and Russia. That Serbia is a slum and that we pissed on USSR's grave and we'll piss again on Russia's if need be.

This is military talk. It's ok.

But imagine when someone says it for your country in your face.

Let's see, Soviet Union felt at December 12 of 1991, I guess that he have two weeks then.

The examples of conflicts between US made and Soviet made aircrafts in the Middle East are too poor to make conclusions. Exactly. And btw, some of those pilots were fiying on planes of a Western design.

The same CIA done and still doing, that's why intellegences are need for. The thing that KGB worked better makes only a honor to our intellegence. However some people think that we steal everything from West, while those people deny that the West steal from us too. This is silly as I see it.
