That jet was shot down by a US Navy cruiser, in what was a war zone. But I kick that ball, and I pray it goes straight,
If it does, then Coach says, "Good job number eight."
He doesn't even no my name is Andre Kristacovitchlalinski, Jr.

It was found in about 3 seconds of google search.
The Iranian a/c might have been in a war zone, but it was over international waters on a pre-approved flight plan. It was obviously an accident, but so was the SK airline (which at least ventured into Roosian airspace, BTW).12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

I've talked about the last large, fullscale maneuvers (training) of our long range aviation which happent about two years ago. Btw, the previous maneuvers of our long range aviation were proposed to be at September of last year, but after Sept 11, and all this panic, our generals decided not to launch a "training attack" of USA territory.Originally posted by Midshipman
Serb, I couldn't understand that last paragraph, about the long range maneuvers of you air fleet, could you please be more specific.
Then how some of you can claims that we steal our fighter from you, if you are just pretty sure that you could do it while don't have it.The X-80, which flew in 1980, was the first with forward swept wings. And yes, it was deemed unfeasible at the time, because there was no such thing as digital flight control. A forward swept wing is inherantly unstable. At the time, it was almost impossible to create an AFCS that could control it, and expensive. That's why we didn't make more than one. Now, I'm pretty sure that we could do it.
So, you are agreed or not that speed is very important for interceptor? the goals of interceptor as I see it- is to hunt, to chase and finaly to shoot down an enemy aircrafts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that speed is very important for this. I've never said that Mig-25 can outrun a missile, I've just wanted to said that it is better to try to outrun the missile while flying on the fastest fighter of the world, then trying to do so while flying on more slower plane. As for the 25, you continue to just say speed. Until the MiG-25 came, the F-106 Suber Sabre was the king of speed. THat only problem was that it had a large turning radius. I believe that the 25 suffers from the same problem. Also, please explain to me how a Mach 2.5 (and I am being generous) fighter can outrun a Mach 4 missile that can turn faster and harder.
After SU remains a huge number of old weaponry. And now our army as not efficient how we need it. It's still to big, the Cold war is over we don't need to waste money on huge army. The goal of our military reform is to create a less numbered, but more efficient army equiped with less number but more superior weapons. This for creation of fighter of fifth generation was started by order of Defense Ministry. You say that the 47 was made by the order of the Defense Ministry? Ok, fine, so it was. My question remains. How is a military that cannot pay its power bill able to afford a squadron, much less a force of high technology fighters.
Of course I believe, we are not an Yugoslavia or Iraq will strike you back. Also, I believe that in case of war between our countries everybody will be dead on this planet. As for the last line, truthfully, do you believe that if the US and Russia got into a war, the Russian Air Force would not get beaten?

And Serb, everyone is laughing at the phrase 'sky under my head', since it's meant to be 'sky over my head'.
Now I've realised it, stuipid mistake of mine. Of course I've mean "over".

It was in times of Cold war, do you think that USAF could react in different manner on such events? I suppose the events of Sept 11 proved that Boeing could be a deadly weapon. And I'm not kidding when I'm saying so. If your air forces at Sept 11 reacted in the same way as Russians done in 80s, then you avoided this disaster. And btw, as I've heard the fourth plane wich crushed in Pensilvania was shoot down by US air forces. And btw, did your president did not ordered to shoot down ANY civilian plane wich is out of proper rute, after those events?Originally posted by Drake Tungsten
I don't understand why you guys are so negative about the Russian Air Force. If I want a South Korean passenger jet shot down, I know who I'd go to. You have to entrust delicate missions like these to the consumate professionals of the Russian Air Force.
And one more thing, what do you think about US submarines? Not so long ago American submarine sinked a Japan training ship, many people died then. Is it disqualify US Navy as professionals?Last edited by Serb; March 26, 2002, 06:22.
