NHL Playoffs, Round 2!

^ If you'd told anyone 15 years ago that a California team and a Florida team would be playing hockey in June to decide the Stanley Cup, you'd have been tossed in the looney bin . (Well, maybe not the CA part -- Gretzky was on the Kings at the time..)

Minor consolation for ABC is that San Jose might pull in the San Francisco market, but CBC would be dead in the water.

Anyway -- back to Montreal. A better game, but still not good enough. Too many defensive breakdowns, and those are lethal against this Lightning team, even with Theodore's heroics. Need to turn it around on home ice, stat, or this will be over quickly.

Definitely looking like all three Canadian squads are up against it; Calgary squeaked out one win but they can't continue to be outshot & outplayed to the extent they are and hope to win that series. Toronto may be too banged-up to put up much more of a fight, and Tampa may prove to be just too good for Montreal to handle.

The Leafs can still do it. They outplayed Philly in the last game, but the bounces went Philly's way. The Leafs almost tied it in the last minute with Mogilny taking that shot on the open net, only to see it get disappear into the defenceman's pants. That was just bad luck and luck can change.

The Leafs will come back hard in game 3. They ain't out yet.

Well Montreal will have the crowd tomorrow night. I think it is still possible to get away with a 7th game at Tampa and be lucky.

If Tampa beats Montreal (much more likely) Philly dies.

Seriously though, I am tending to agree that the Canadian teams are in for it. Calgary is in the best shape at 1-1 but anyone who watched the games saw how utterly they were outplayed. They could steal it but it would definitely be a theft

Montreal . . . the second period of game 2 showed that they can play with Tampa . .. it was a weird game though as Tampa rolled Montreal in period 1 and only got a 2-1 lead. Montreal then totally outclasses Tampa in period 2 but fell to 3-1 down. I thought the 3rd period was more even ( probably slightly Tampa's)-- I have not lost hope for these guys either

Toronto-- I always think it is hard to steal 2 series in a row. Philly is looking good-- the Leafs are hurt and I personally never thought they had the horses to be a Cup contender-- I can hope to be wrong


San Jose-- I watched their 1-0 win and they look great against a very talented Avs team. I picked their opponent in each of the first 2 rounds and acknowledge that I underestimate them--


san Jose Tampa final?? maybe-- I think that there are some folks in Detroit that may have something to say on the issue
