@ this thread.
Bush is toast. Even his former supporters are beginning to face the fact that he's an incompetent loony in charge of a bigoted, anti-realist administration. Anyone should have known this as soon as he hired David Frum as his speechwriter. That man is the most retarded person I have ever heard.
And for the record - I love how some people say they are socially liberal but economically conservative. Sorry, in the real world you can't be both at the same time - real democracy and real social liberalism requires a more equal distribution of power in society.Only feebs vote.

No Jewish, Hindu, or Muslim organizations have received any money under this policy (not that many have applied).

fiscal conservative, social liberal, or other way round…man who cares about that? Bush is none of it, he’s a criminal. simple as that. so is his administration. a bunch of kleptomanic, homophobic criminals. America will be better off without them. the GOP will be better off without them. even Alcatraz would be better off without them, although that would be the place where criminals like the Bushies should be sent to for the rest of their useless criminal lifes.

No, he is not. I'm sorry but John Kerry is too much of an a-hole to defeat Bush.
I may not agree with Bush's view on gay marriage, but you're full of crap.
Okay you again proved how full of crap you are. You are just full of it. You are a damn marxist, so what are you talking about democracy? You don't want democracy, you want dictatorship.justice is might

I contend the majority of Americans are in the middle and given the opportunity would resound behind such a candidate were the parties not hijacked by the extreme bases on both sides. In other words, it would have been a run away if McCain had the repub nomination and the issue of Bush stealing the election would have been moot."Just puttin on the foil" - Jeff Hanson

I wrote not many, not none. The fact of the matter is these grants are going to extremist fundi churches that are allied to the Republican Party. It's patronage and state support of religion all rolled up in one corrupt mess.

In a small concession to Imran, the most admired emperor in Roman history other than Augustus was Trajan. One of the reasons he was admired was that he put the Empire's finances in good order and balanced the budget.
To some extent, Eisenhower was also admired because he insisted on balancing the budget. However, Nixon got no credit for this when Kennedy campaigned on the slogan "getting America going again," because Eisenhower's efforts to balance the budget casued a recession. What Kennedy did was cut tax rates. That set off a sustained period of growth until the wheels came off in the seventies. While tax revenues fell in the initial year after the tax rate cut, tax revenues were quickly back to the former levels due to increased economic performance.
So I can say to Imran is that he appears to be in favor of balancing the budget and causing a renewal of the recession just like Eisenhower.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

Ned,
The US government is spending way beyond it's means - even if the economy was running at it's boom level of 2000 there would still be governmental financial deficit of nearly 4% of GDP (compared to a surplus of 1% then).
Face it, all that borrowing has done is to postpone the reckoning - and it will be that much worse 'cos of the increasing interest costs that today's borrowing binge is running up.19th Century Liberal, 21st Century European

Imran, you're not alone. See Bob Novak's most recent column: Republican malaise.. Good article. I always liked Novak for trying to 'tell it as it is', even when it gets him trouble with his own party.
