    only the religious threads

Cause i get kinda tired of disputes about "religion" in which it is assumed that religion = christianity. Why does everyone else turn such threads into lectures on christianity, or secularism or whatever? Maybe y'all might actually learn about something you dont already know about.

      LoTM:

Well said, we do need to be reminded that 'religious' need not equate with Christianity.

      Asher:

If you are religious, and if you believe that homosexuality is either a sin, not natural, or immoral:

      1) Do you recognize that most homosexuals are deeply offended by that?
      Yes, I do.

      2) Do you care?
Everyone who sins hates being told that what they do is sinful. As Christians, one of our tasks is to call out to people the necessity of repentence. In order to do this, one must first expose sin.

      3) If you believe that homosexuals are okay, but homosexual sex is a sin -- can you please explain the logic behind that...
Love the sinner, hate the sin.

Our identity is not equated with our sexual preferences. Since it is possible for a person to change their preferences, it is also possible for a person to repent or to turn away from sin.

Now, this does not just apply to homosexuality, but to all forms of sin. What you have to remember is that this is the way God looks at people. God loves each and every one of us even when we sin. I'm reminded of CS Lewis when he says that we love God because God loved us first. Since Christians are supposed to emulate God, this is how we must see the people who we consider 'sinners'

When this is applied towards avowed homosexuals, why does it sound to me, like it's patronizing/paternal, as well as ignorant?

Not all Xians are ignorant bastards. I wasn't. There's nothing wrong with homosexuality. The problem is the [i]evil[i] religious types, who unfortunately, are very numerous.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I would not be surprised if you and Park Avenue lust after one another.

People fear what they don't understand, and since many ppl don't understand homosexuals they will fear them. When fear takes hold everything begins to look weird. Shadows take the forms of ghosts, trees the form of witches, and words in religious text as words against those they fear...

People just need to let people live there life as those people see fit... as long as they arn't hurting someone else.

Ben! This is a flame, just so you don' t think I am sneaking around!

Things That Would Be Different If The 12 Disciples Were Gay

                        1. The "Sermon on the Mount" would be a musical.

                        2. Jesus would never wear white after Labour Day.

                        3. Priests would get married... wait a minute... never mind.

                        4. The Gospels would be Matthew, Mark, Luke and Bruce.

                        5. Mary's hair would be FLAWLESS.

                        6. The Temple would not have been cleansed of money changers, just re-decorated.

                        7. The water at the Wedding Feast of Canaan would have turned into dry martinis with just a splash of Curacao for colour.

                        8. The Triumphal Entry just screams for a drag number.

                        9. Replace the "Beatitudes" with "Fabulous are they..."

                        10. The Last Supper would have been a brunch.

                          I'm a Christian.

From all I've been able to ascertain, Gay isn't a choice one makes, it's a recognition.
Something to do with gene makeup, I think.

That said, I've nothing against Gays, as a whole.
I've nothing against Gay relations, as a whole.

What I do have a problem with is Gays taking their sexual encounters "public"
But before any of you Gay people get all hopped up, the same goes for Straights.
I'm not a big fan of excessive public displays of affection.

I don't think Gays are condemned to Hell.

As it occured to you, as Christians, that perhaps not everybody believes in the same wishywashy Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, God crap that you do? That we might find it offensive, downright annoying, and extremely condescending of you to call out to everyone to repent because some ancient book, interpreted in some ancient and twisted way, says what they do is wrong.

It's their life, not yours, so stay out of it.

                          • Stop calling out for them to repent
                          • Stop passing laws to enforce your narrowly moral and bigoted viewpoints

You guys are going to have a helluva time once you become the extreme minority, as the current trend is heading. You'd start to wish you guys followed the Golden Rule.

Our identity is not equated with our sexual preferences. Since it is possible for a person to change their preferences, it is also possible for a person to repent or to turn away from sin.
It is no more possible for me to "change my preferences" to be straight than it is to change yours to be gay.

Not only is saying it's possible to change their preferences ridiculous, it's also very insulting. "They choose to live their life like that, they can change with the help of the Lord..."

The people who change through the help of the Lord force themselves into thinking they want a heterosexual relationship. They work fine for a bit, but then they divorce and now kids have a gay dad and wives are left hurting. It hurts more than helps when churches do that kind of crap.

Want first-hand knowledge of this on Apolyton? Talk to GayGamer, I can set you up with his AIM. He's a 40-something guy who finally admitted he can't pretend to be straight anymore. He's got kids...

God loves each and every one of us even when we sin.
So why are sins bad if God loves us anyway? Why would God not allow someone into heaven if he loves them?

I know you probably don't mean for it, Obiwan, but every post you and your type make like this one makes you look like a condescending ***** and preacher.

Whenever I'm lectured by religious people about homosexuality and God, I always feel like I'm an adult being lectured by a 6-year old explaining how Santa can visit every house in a single night...
