That you can find Tower Records in both Spain and Argentina doesn't really surprise me because of the cultural and economic links.
C&A grabbed my attention because they're mostly present in Belgium and Holland and some other neighbours IIRC. When we turn in the timers, they record how long it took for us to run from the start to the finish.
The timer is just a small chip wrapped in plastic attached to the sole of the shoe.
