Mrs Tuberski arrived with a ruffed lemur in her arms and a big nut. Snoopy was playing chess with Spaced Cowboy. ‘Bishop to rook 6’ said Snoopy ‘ and checkmate perhaps’. ‘Not a chance’ replied Spaced as he moved his king into the middle.
Heresson turned up wearing a shirt made of material that changed colour with temperature. This led Kuciwalker and him to get into a discussion about chromatophores. Duke O’York mentioned Artic foxes changing their fur. ‘Lions are colour blind’ added Tuberski , ‘that’s why they find it hard to pick out a single Zebra’ said Adrian Hon.
Jonny and Ben Kenobi were busy comparing notes about the new Aquarium and how it compared with the ones in Memphis and San Antonio.
Sparrowhawk and Will9 were looking at the map again. ‘This green section here with Eagle, Albatross, Condor and birdie markings. Is that the new Aviary site? ‘Don’t be daft’ I said, ‘ That’s the staff golf course. In fact I was thinking of putting a Vincent copy in the clubhouse. What do you think?’
I told them that seeing it was a sunny day Rah had gone out early to test the course. I suggested we stroll down and meet him coming in of the back nine.
We found Rah in the rough with his driver and wood beside him on the ground along with old cans of Schlitz. His head was wedged into a badger opening, a sett piece – a hole in one you might say. The photograph pinned to the tree showed Rah trying to fend of the ferrets with the beer cans. Close to the tree those strange animal like footprints were evident again and a black thread snagged on a splinter of wood. Maybe it was a tramp or someone like that.
