Yes, the control scheme can be different, but this does not require "fresh" development on the Wii.
You're going to be in for a major disappointment if you think anything the Wii is getting will be "freshly" developed. The Wii is somewhat appealing to developers because it's a great source for recycled code and reduced development costs. You're never going to see an extraordinarily pretty, hardware-pushing game for the Wii simply because they don't need to be to sell to the 80 year olds their target market is now.
