  • Gamestop.com is offering a Wii bundle to be shipped later this month. It includes the Wii, an extra controller, a 1GB memory card, and four extra games (Call of Duty, Rayman, Madden, and Zelda).

However, at $580, it seems a tad on the pricey side.

    • that bundle isn't worth it.

that is roughly the price if you bought everything separately. the nin brand card is way way overpriced compared to regular sdisks.

gamewise, that's a fairly decent package, but still a pill to swallow.

if you can't find a wii, then it would be a great move, if you need oneRIGHT NOW

      • Let's see...

        Code:
        Nintendo Wii$250
        Wiimote$40
        Nunchuck$20
        1GB SD Card$50
        Call of Duty 3$50
        Rayman Raving Rabbids$50
        Madden NFL 07$50
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess $50
        Total:$560
Looks like the bundle isn't really much different than buying everything separately.

The Hell it isn't. A hand-held system like DS is considered a console, because that's what they are, a hand-held console.

You're playing semantics, console implies home console, handheld implies handheld console. They are different markets, which explains why one can be dominated by Nintendo and the other by Sony.

Success is one does not translate to the other, which is why Nintendo couldn't boost the Gamecube sales with their half-assed "connectivity with GBA" approach and why the PSP is struggling compared to the DS. They are not the same markets, consoles and handhelds.

Notice the kinds of consoles included in this article, for instance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_console

Sure they are, unless you're suggesting that a home with one or the other is less likely to have it's counterpart system made by the corporation that made it.

Following your cited yellow-sticky of the internet I clicked on "list of consoles" and found, lo and behold, the handhelds listed as "consoles"

              • They specify specifically they're also including "handheld consoles" in the list, which tells you it's not included by default.

Yes, but for GameCube games (and it seems I'm not the only one taking this opportunity to buy a bunch of GC titles, from what I've read). I do also play Wii Sports (as a "party" game, when I have some people over and we're in the mood); Zelda obviously has minimal replay value (IMO).

Like all the other consoles, it is going to take time for decent titles to come out that are worth purchasing. I'm still waiting for the 360, and I'm still waiting for the Wii. I cannot forgive Nintendo as easily as I can Microsoft: while the latter is doing the best they can to gobble up any and all game companies, Nintendo has for years had at their disposal a slew of first party franchises, and only one was present: Zelda, a GameCube game. Metroid and Mario won't be here for a while.

(I wish Sony had waited in launching the PS3, as it would have given both Sony and Nintendo the time they needed to get their systems up to snuff.)

Anyway, like I said the majority of games that launch with a console are universally sucky; this becomes even more of a problem when you take into account the Wii control scheme; a game that would on any other console be considered mediocre/average (simply because it is a cookie cutter sequel) would be a catastrophe on the Wii, if no time is spent adapting the game to the Wii, and instead is almost a straight port...

                              yup

renting games every couple weekends, will rent warioware soon.

playing a lot of wii sports against my wife, probably every couple days we play for a while.

When SSX: Blur comes out, my game playing will ramp back up considerably.

Which ones are worth the time to go rent/buy? What's the final decision on Elebits?
