    • And 360 sales strong in both hardware and software...

I didnt check the arithmetic, but someone said the total Wii cumulative sales, incluind Feb, was 1.9 million units. IIUC 360 didnt hit that till June. Were they still having production problems in June? Of course the price for the 360 was higher (someone could do the arithmetic wrt hardware revenues).

        • Wii is doing very well (as is the DS), and the 360 is still selling quite nicely. Now, the PS3 on the other hand, got outsold by the GBA. Whoops!
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

Around June it had stabilized, but of course that doesn't make it retroactive.

And I'm curious where you got the 1.9 mil figure in June from?

I assume you're talking US-only. Because Over 1.9 mil Xbox 360ses were sold by January worldwide.

              • I also do not understand the comparison of units sold between the two. It doesn't matter how many units you sell if your attach ratio is as low as it is for the Wii. People aren't buying many games.

The Wii itself is cheaper and technology-wise lends itself better to the present than the future -- it has momentum based on the gimmicky controls and benefits from the lack of all TVs being HDTVs.

I think it's clear the Wii won't maintain any form of momentum to challenge anyone to be the #1 console this generation.

Halo 3 launches this year, and that will be interesting...

No, it won't. A lot of people will buy it, and that'll be that. It's going to be a big seller, and that will be 0 surprise to anyone.

                      • Are PS2s still being manufactured, or are these just heavily discounted residual stock? I wonder when sales of the PS2 are going to be surpassed by sales of the 360 (and the ps3) for more than a one month blip?

What are the attach rates compared historically?

Should be fun, but really, who cares who is #1 (besides shareholders and fanboys) as long as enjoyable games come out for the system you own.

Yes, worldwide figures are better to use than just US or NA numbers on these things.

                              Then yes, that's US-only.

                              • I finally got hold of a Wii today, just in time for my daughters birthday on Tuesday. It has been sold out whenever I have looked in the store, until now.
