Yeah, but I've only got 5 levels of fighter so I can't really handle 2 ogres and a giant on my own.

I'm now 7/5 fighter/mage, and this is mostly thanks to some higher level characters taking on scorpions and dragons and saving my ass repeatedly when I died.
Nearly level 13 though.
I'll be ready soon Sir Ralph - honest!
Althougn one player thought I was Spikey and invited me to join his party, but then didn't want to when I explained why I had the name.

That's not what you did and you know it. You listed all the places where the xp is best at those levels, and none of the ones that are fun and different but give lousy xp.
I don't think that is wrong, of course. However, it does set your earlier remarks in context.

These are all zones for the appropriate levels I know. Remember I am also new to this module (in fact, much newer than Duke is). These are the zones I found myself, without having gotten hints. I don't even know that there are others. Many of them (Twizzlers, cave, ants) clearly follow an exploration path. Others (Crypt and Cragdale) I found making quests. No powergaming here, really.

Any news Duke? I played Oblivion all weekend. I decided to keep it despite of poor controls (it's not DnD after all, so excusable) and horrible German translation (I should have shelled out 5 euros more and gotten the UK version).
It will be interesting to see, how your build progresses. I didn't know what class(es) you were when we played the first time. From your playstyle I though you were fighterish-roguish, I never saw you chanting spells, you fought with blades and used a bow. Remember I asked you how your stealth is, and you replied it sucks?
Mine is pretty good, but hey I am a ranger/rogue. One could say it's a yawn-build, played to death, and he would be right. But I like that playstyle, sneak in and hit hard, or soften it up with bowshots and finish it dual-wielding, so I play it again and again. Fighter/rogue may be more efficient feat-wise, but 2+INT (2 + 0 = 2, or 1 more if human) skills for the fighter levels suck. So far I am pleased with that character. I have 5 skills for the ranger and 9 for the rogue levels (only 3 so far), I have discipline, hide and move silently maxed, 15 tumble (thanks Mr. Rogue!), basics in search and lore, so I can create a nice stock of potions, 8 points in disarm (which I regret to have spent - no point in it in Folderol), and some more in heal. I can summon a panther, who sneak attacks 20..30ish and dies for me if I bit more than I can chew. I have a nice hp stock (enjoy it while it lasts - rangers go down to d8 in NWN2) and 2d6 sneak attacks, I have evasion and uncanny dodge and I have dodge and mobility. And focus/inproved crit for my weapon type (short sword) of course. Got to take a shadow dancer level for HIPS now. That'll be fun. I love that character. That's how a hunter should be.
So, that was a lot talk about game mechanics and a good target for Spikey, who likely drools for calling me a power gamer. Let it commence!

By the way, on the second code page quest in the crypt I grouped with a level 10 female druid, who moved around with a real zoo of familiars and summoned beasts, who not only dumped our experience, but dragged all mobs of the whole crypt into every single fight or at least it seemed so. I (at level 11 then) dropped my panther, but she didn't get the hint. Needless to say, that we failed to find Sir Whatshisname and I went out of the crypt with less experience than I had before.
After we broke up, I went back into the crypt solo. What a different experience! Not only found I the paladin in the first try, but I managed not to die, to gather several ten thousands worth of loot (it was all mine ) and the whole crypt was so enjoyable, that I did it 2 or 3 more times right away. Stealth really helps. And careful body pulling, instead of sending in a 800 pounds bear, who dies in 3 hits to warm up the mobs for their main dish.

I'm a fighter/mage and currently at 8/5 (or is it 7/5? - I'm not logging on now to check up because I'll just start playing and get no work done. ). I haven't been using many spells so far because I only got still spell with my last mage level (I know, but I was undecided as to whether to wear armour or not and decided to. ). At the moment I have 2 stilled Melf's and 3 MMs, which can be an interesting intro to my beating enemies to death with my sword for anyone foolish to be spotted before they spot me!
