Eh, TCU has a shot at a share of the national championships just like in 2010, if Free Shoes university loses a game. The consequence of the playoffs leaving out the best teams is that the playoff no longer chooses the champion.

Listening to one of the committee guys on the radio last night... TCU was simply a big problem. They weren't a "champion" and they lost heads up to another team in their conference with the same record. He claimed it would have been extremely difficult to put TCU in over a team that beat them, and nobody thought Baylor deserved it.
OSU saved them by killing Wisconsin. It made their choice easy. And frankly, most of the talking head sports experts agree with the four teams. However, they almost all had a problem with the earlier rankings.

If Bama loses, TCU will be ranked number one after the semifinals by the computers if they beat Ole Miss. The playoffs managed to sabotage themselves...

Don't argue with me - argue with the computers.

Computers have TCU at 2. Leaving out the number 2 and the number 4 and matching them up against each other, means that the best match is TCU's match, which is actually stronger than the semifinals.

Best case for TCU is a blowout followed by an Ohio State narrow win and a FSU narrow win (putting TCU ahead of everyone), followed by an Ohio State narrow win. Ohio State won't gain anything from Florida State if they win.

It will be close, but TCU has an outside chance of finishing the year at number 1.

Hmm the champion in College basketball is the one that actually wins the tournament. Computers don't play the game.
The same will occur in Football. Except in that lonely bitter place called benland.

the Big 12 tried to game the system with the whole co-champion thing, when before, the "we are the best conference, because we all play ever team, and head to head matters" was the thing.

So the committee did the right thing and did not include a non-conference champ in the play-off.

LOL at the whole computer thing. The same computer that has the hogs at 13, ahead of two team it lost to and an Ole Miss team that was destroyed by the Hogs at #4 with 3 losses. And also the same computer that must have a pure SEC bias, with 10 of the SEC teams in the top 21....

If the SEC put a team in the playoff that was not champ, there would be pure screaming and yelling from the rest of the world about it.
