  • So perhaps I should apply for the NFL Draft, then?

Russell has shown poor decisionmaking so far, but I'm not sure I'd go so far as to assume he has no brain. Some of that is just poor coaching, and it's amazing the effect coaches can have on some players.

Tebow simply hasn't shown that he's capable of doing the physical things - or the mental things - necessary to be a winning NFL QB. Might as well draft any random offensive skill position player who played QB in high school...

      • Beanie Wells!

That's got to suck for all the Boldin, Fitzgerald, Hightower and Breaston owners.

        • What has to suck? You really get way, way too carried away by things...

The only thing that sucks is Hightower's lack of hands (both holding onto carries, and catches]...

          • Geez, I'm just having fun. Lighten up some. You're up by 50. Unless Brandon Jacobs blows up you should be fine.

Rats, Hightower. I was hoping they'd give it to Beanie again.

                • Now that's how you catch the damn ball! (Boss catch - where was the flag?)

Next play - and that's not how you hold onto the ball.

                  • Does Andrea Kremer remind anyone of Tony Soprano's wife, ol' what's her name?

Jamarcus' arm is much better, and his system was more pro-style than Tebow's. Heck, I wouldn't be shocked to see Jamarcus turn into a passable QB when he finds a decent team and coach.

Tebow should be either a wildcat QB [say, for MIA, though they already have one], or a some sort of WR/RB/TE combo type depending on his size gaining ability [he needs to be bigger]. He may well be good enough to be a starting NFL player at that, but I imagine wildcat QB at most really. Unless he starts as that and then takes three years or so to learn how to be a real QB.
Seriously, I think it would be far more interesting to see how Russell would have done somewhere OTHER than Oakland, which is a cesspool of suck.

I think Tebow can be successful in a wildcat offense and maybe a team like Tampa can change up their offense to have one of them. Though I'm not sure how successful he'd necessarily be... though for a team like Tampa anything is better than what they currently are doing.

                      • Russell can throw far. That's why Al Davis liked him. It doesn't mean he'll ever be a successful pro QB. It means he can throw far.

Tebow might be successful in the Wildcat, as you say. He would also be limited in teams that could use him and the duration of teams even using the Wildcat.

                        • I definitely think that a Wildcat style offense can be effective with an at least marginally competent passer at the helm (Tebow, or perhaps Vick, for example). Having that threat of passing keeps defenses from just stuffing the box and playing run zone. Look at Arizona's one trick play last night - if they could do that on a dozen plays per game, with a nearly-real QB throwing the ball, it might well work.

But he's probably not going to QB a real offense.

                          • I think Snyder will decide Zorn won't be there until year end, after all.

As good a place as any... and well deserved after the game in Cincy.

The good news is that there are tons of teams that are worse.

While they are bad, I will reserve judgement to see what happens if the offensive line (pretty much all new) can get their act together. All the defensive injuries are killing us... we are running out of line backers. The Bears have a real QB now, but he will only be as good as the players around him.

Granted, I was hoping for more this year, but I now see a team that can improve. Only time will tell
