I think the whole death threat drama is way out of proportion. There's a scene in "12 Angry Men" where they make this point - that people will say regrettable things when they're angry and not mean them.

Dale got incensed by a problem poster.

What Dale did was a felony and he's lucky I didn't report him to the Australian authorities. He combined a death threat with using his admin powers to look up my name and personal information when he issued it.

The lackadaisical attitude some of you have is sickening.

What's kind of funny is what started this whole thing was a facetious post I made claiming Dale was sending me PMs of graphic sex with Pandas. Dale blew his lid in the admin forums whining about how in Australia such a simple accusation could put him under surveillance or whatever. When the admin refused to ban me for the comment, he flipped out and deleted my posts. Sometime later he looked up my personal information, sent me a PM enumerating my personal information and issuing a death threat.

This was just one month ago.

It's not a joke, and I wish you'd stop treating it like one. What Dale did was absolutely unconscionable, it was outrageous, it was illegal, and it showed a lack of maturity and integrity (like others have mentioned).

It's not only that, Ali, but Locutus had a less-extreme case of blowing his lid and abusing his powers on Apolyton as well. 2 of the 3 admins on that site have shown they are not to be trusted with administrative powers, yet you're here defending their site and pretending like what happened was not a big deal.

For that, you should feel shame.

What pisses me off most about this whole thing is how someone could not find that comment funny. There's several layers of humour to it! Pandas don't even have sex, it's why they're so endangered!

I spent 3 1/2 hours diagramming and working on variations of that joke and to have it be taken seriously is just deeply upsetting.

I should also add that unlike in your insinuations here, this did not happen over a short period of time. Dale was systematically abusing his powers for weeks before he finally made the death threat, SEEMINGLY OUT OF NOWHERE. He'd been banned for weeks at this point (after the admin discovered he was deleting my posts). He came back, PMed me the death threat, then left.

Then DAYS LATER, he came back and registered ANOTHER LOGIN with an "apology" which did not apologize to me, but instead again basically said I got what I deserved, etc.

This is behaviour over a period of AT LEAST A MONTH, not a "heat of the moment" kind of thing like you imply. Further still, the thing that "incensed" him was a comment that was patently facetious that no one in the entire world could've taken seriously or taken great offense to -- except, apparently, Dale.

You are misrepresenting the situation out of either ignorance or spite -- which is it, Ali?

Note that I am not the one who got a death threat and I think that Dale should have a perma ban.

Anyway, that this is what caused him to premeditate a death threat is proof that he probably should be under surveillance.
