Towed artillery is pretty out of date and can only really be used if the other side doesn't have effective modern counter battery fire systems. Motorized artillery, so you can shoot and scoot, is really the only sustainable was to go on the modern battlefield.

And had performance and guidance issues to boot!

We don't hear much about hypersonic missiles these days anymore. People were not sufficiently impressed, I'm afraid

Back in Argentina, I lived in Buenos Aires where it has snowed twice in recorded history, only a cm or so. Last Feb I was at my in-laws', about 300km further north so no snow ever.

Over here it used to snow consistently (at least that's what they tell me), but there hadn't been consistent snow cover for more than a couple of days since a long while ago until the winter before last (when we got here), and we had a full month of snow cover.

Last winter there were some days it snowed, but nothing that lasted for long.

It seems like this winter it will also be mild (it did snow last weekend, but also only a cm or two, didn't last much).

Russia does not appear to treat its soldiers well.
Russia's deployment of thousands of soldiers to the battlefields of Ukraine is generating dissent and protest on the front lines -- and their complaints are being amplified by their wives and mothers back home. CNN's Fred Pleitgen reports.

Russia is supposedly going to do a full general mobilization on the new year. Given that they cannot currently train, properly equip, or even maintain proper supply for their current forces I wonder if these ever feasible. Especially given the massive negative economic impact. They currently often aren't even paying their existing forces so how do they lose so much of their work force and still pay for everything?
