I agree. Having a guy that can be bought off as commander in chief, and a vulnerable democracy like Taiwan... The forces are built up. The weather is best in October in the Straits, but perhaps its still okay in November. Heard 2 different things on that. We are not obliged by alliance, its left to 'ambiguity', which leaves it in the hands of the President. I hope that Trump gets a second term for this reason primarily. I also hope that in that term Trump recognizes Taiwan's independence, brings it into the newly forming Quad Alliance, and puts those troops we're pulling out of Europe into Taiwan. That would be an (hopefully) effective bulwark against an expansionist China in the Pacific. Should Taiwan fall, and the US do nothing, Luzon isn't all that far. Even if China never made that invasion, the Philippines would be not trusting of the US anymore and perhaps not as welcoming to Americans. In fact, Japan, India, Australia, well the efforts Trump put in to bringing them together would be lost. If Biden sells out Taiwan, its a different world.

Short term China is concerned about Trump's trade war, but long term having Trump another 4 years may be rather beneficial to China as his ongoing incompentence hurts the US while China's economy is recovering well.

I've seen and been rather amazed by the degree of hatred for Trump in individuals. He's just a guy, with his failures and successes. Seems to be doing well in Asia. I think some folks should see a shrink. Eight years of Clinton and then 8 of Obama has made maybe 35% of America into political babies who know nothing else but getting their way. This is how life is, sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you. Life goes on and there's another election in 4 years. See as many as I have and it gets rather boring. Really though, Pelosi is already paving the way to have Biden removed, then we have President Harris. Who in their right mind wants that? We should defenf Taiwan and probably will. The objective should be to prevent war. I think we need to decouple from China and use diplomacy against them. The Democrats are just horrible at that. Remember Obama walking out of the back of the plane?

Time for a reality check. They overwhelmingly support Biden and have has great success with him.

We have to decrease our dependency on China and increase our dependency on Taiwan. That will discourage invasion of Taiwan.

I don't think that's enough to detour them. They have to believe that we'll use it. But the plan isn't going to work politically if we wreck the economy.
