It doesn't say how they voted just if they are registered to vote or not along with basic information like name, address, and party affiliation. What the papers are saying is the whiny cry baby rioters couldn't even be bothered to register to vote.Originally posted by Proteus_MST View PostFascinating ... I would question whether it is the obligation of the employer to ensure that their employees have the documentation to work in the United States. After all, it wasn't the employer that is responsible for them getting into the US in the first place.the most effective way to combat this is to go after the hundreds of employers instead of trying to round up the thousands of workers (of whom perhaps 50% are actually illegal)?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

The employer is obligated to do quite a few thing in regards to his employees. Safety, payroll taxes, payroll, making sure they have proper certification for jobs that require it, so making sure they're eligible to be employed isn't a stretch at all. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Safety, sure I agree. Payroll taxes? Why is the state making the business owner the tax collector. The state should simply collect off the individuals. Of course, we all know why they don't do that, because it's way easier for the state to make the business go through the hassle of filing. Payroll, sure. Certification - sure - but again, it's not the job of the employer to enforce border regulations. The employer is obligated to do quite a few thing in regards to his employees. Here in Australia, employers do have an obligation to check that potential employees have the right to work in Australia.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostI would question whether it is the obligation of the employer to ensure that their employees have the documentation to work in the United States. If you do not have an Australian accent you can certainly expect to be asked to show your work visa.
The penalties are harsh. It is a really bad idea to hire without such evidence.
Mr Kenobi, I need to see your work visa BEFORE we can hire you please.

With Keystone XL, what nature preserves?Originally posted by Proteus_MST View PostWith other words:

* SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward
To hell with those nature preserves that prevent the unlimited extraction of oil, coal and gas(\__/)

Why should it be the obligation of the employer? From what I know of Australia, you can't even board a plan without a visa and clearance. Can the employer deport the employee if they are found with illegal papers? Here in Australia, employers do have an obligation to check that potential employees have the right to work in Australia.
Why should the business be fined? Again - the business isn't the one selling fraudulent documentation - nor are they responsible for bringing the person here. Fine the one actually responsible - the individual. The penalties are harsh. It is a really bad idea to hire without such evidence.
I'm all for border control doing their jobs in checking people. A business should be able to request assistance from border control.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

How exactly is fining businesses a small government position? Reducing the red tape for businesses is a small government solution. Also = border control is a constitutional obligation of the Federal government. You seem strangely attracted to the idea of big government for someone who claims to be a hard right conservative..Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Neither a visa nor clearance is required to travel around within Australia.
The Government does the deporting.
I don't see a problem with a business being required to establish that a non-citizen is actually allowed to work in our country. I don't see a problem with fining them if they don't do the check.
