Full of crap! These people are not concerned about economics. They are concerned about guns, brown people and queers.
Wow. That's a pretty racist statement. Why wouldn't poor white people be concerned about economics? Since, presumably, they'd like to stop being poor, no?
They are upset because their previous dominance is coming under threat.
Nailed it. Giancarlo, you really do believe that it's only the poor white people who are going to be left behind. You see, you believe you *are* dominant, therefore it's ok to shove all the crap you can down whitey's throat.
When did you stop being fascist?

Wow. Elok's preaching truth to power here. I missed the earlier comment that Giancarlo quoted about the magical transition after Oberfell. Elok totally nailed it there too. That is exactly what happened.
With that said, there are plenty of noxious habits built into lower-class Black culture, and we do not accept it when people say, "Hey, if they can't stop smacking their babymamas and watching the hip-hop vids long enough to get off the food stamps and get a job, we can't help it. It's the culture!" We rightly call that out as bull****. There is no reason why a lower melanin level or lack of ancestry in a traditionally oppressed group should make the unacceptable acceptable.
Exactly. Drugs are bad because drug abuse among poor people is endemic. Really, we talk about 'white trash' crappy habits and drug use is a big part. Get that **** cleaned up and you'll be a gigantic leap towards not being ****ing poor.
It's not a skin problem, but a culture problem. When we have a culture that teaches that drugs are really not that bad, that's going to be devastating to the 19 year old poor white person working at Wal Mart who gets his hits of crystal meth because it's better than his ****ty 9 to 5.

but I don't think a person becomes a Trump supporter because of economic struggles. They might hold their nose and vote for Trump because they think he's better for the economy than Hillary. But they aren't cheering for him at rallies and spamming comments sections unless there's something else at work. Another big factor is SCOTUS. A lot of the religious right is going to hold their nose and vote Trump simply to get conservative justice(s) on the court. Most of them detest Trump personally.
Most Trump supporters that I've seen are boomers. There's a big generational divide among republicans. If you're younger than 40, you're very rarely a Trump supporter. Ironically Trump tends to draw *outside* the religious right. The profile of the Trump supporter is a boomer that's just now collecting a pension, is home everyday, is terrified about the world that they see, likely has married and divorced etc. Trump supporters are not greatly satisfied by the world that they see around them, and want to change things like they were taught when they were young, that anybody could change the world, and have generally failed to do so in a meaningful way. Trump they see is powerful in the ways they want to be powerful, he's rich, he's famous. That's really the extent of his support. He makes these people, generally boomer men, feel like they could have been Trump if things had worked out differently. Trump is their hero.
Contrary to what you believe, Trump supporters aren't the ones going to church every week. They are the ones that go once a month, or Christmas and easter. They don't believe that the purpose of church is truth, but rather that church should be something fun to do on sunday and if they don't like it, they should just switch to one that they do like. They have the cafeteria attitude of finding a church that suits them rather than the other way around.
Nevertrumps are generally a hodgepodge of liberal democrats that make up the bulk of institutional republicans and the actual right of the party, Cruz, etc.

that's interesting because the trump supporters who've been getting the most attention, the so-called 'alt-right', are overwhelmingly young.
As we do not yet have a ~infinite source of green energy, and are fast degrading land and water sources around the world ... if we have any hope of being able to continue our modern way of life we need to be sinking carbon into new soil and new forests, setting up water cachment/erosion control, and offsetting as much energy as we can with available labor. Luckily we have tons of labor available.
The obvious solution is we should employ some billions of people in two areas: in soil and biomass regeneration through agroforestry, and making our food supply more energy efficient with intensive (organic and not) high labor input agriculture.
We need to plant about 4 billion hectares of forests rather soon, and stop the cutting of the 3-4 billion hectares of forests we have left. We need to repair watersheds. Otherwise we're ****ed.
hey, if you want to remake the economy on green lines, then i could definitely get behind that.

Looking at the widespread actions of Trump supporters these past two weeks, I can confidently say I am 1000% correct. Yes, one thousand percent. Trumps base isn't influenced by economics, rather by delusional hatred of anyone a shade darker than them. Old rooted racism.
You said racism. Interesting considering you are a racist yourself.

When did you stop being fascist?
No. I believe progressive policy is dominant. My statement was true in the 1860s, 1960s and it is true now. Old white men are threatened because their ability to abuse and oppress others is diminished.
A poll came out showing only 73% of Republicans will vote for Trump and only 4 in 10 are that supportive of him. Their party is fractured. Even predominantly white stated like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have seen consistent support for Hillary in line with expectations.
So this leaves me to conclude it is old angry white men in republican states... But Indiana and even Texas are nearing tossup status.
When did you stop being a religious fascist? Oh wait... You support the Catholic Church. Same Church that helped Mussolini. Fascist huh?

You are a bigot. You are in no position to talk about LGBTQ people. You are incapable of a rational discussion on that topic.

What kind of cesspool is canada to have spawn ben kenobi?
Canada has a smart rational leader in Justin Trudeau. Ben was probably a supporter of that moron who came before... The Bush clone. Whatever his ****ing name was.
Ben is a racist. He at one said that he hates all black men because he thinks they all steal. Ben shouldn't be posting on this subject. He is like Bashar Al-Assad talking about the importance of human rights.
Ben shouldn't be posting about LGBTQ people either. He had his ass handed to him in this subject. This idiot doesn't even know about the law or the Supreme Court decision (Oberfell). Ben is threatened by queers like me having equal rights.
Ben is a dumbass by his own admission and will. I am surprised he doesn't jack off to a picture of Trump every night.

In Kansas, you see the beginning of right wing terrorism. Plots were foiled where several Trumpettes planned to kill Muslims... And other minorities.
They now want to scare us minorities from voting. They are showing up in front of campaign offices. At the rallies they are now calling for violence
Trump supporters are so angry they don't even want white women voting. Or any women. The repeal the 19th amendment chatter spread on twitter among Trumpettes like wild fire.
Economics my ass. It is all about a lack of a ability to **** with others. People don't like being ****ed with (or pussygrabbed for that matter) and minorities are standing up for themselves. They hate that. We are gaining too much of a voice. It pisses them off. Not long gone never coming back outmoded factory jobs.
BTW, this is the blowback from the bigots that is expected. Even in Benlandia (Texas) they are rapidly losing grip.

Now... It looks like Mike Pence is now a liability in Indiana and may cost Trump the state. Turns out growing accusations are being voiced that Pence misused local authorities to raid registration offices to dispose of voter registration forms.
A progressive advocacy group said state police raided an office working to sign up black voters. Donald Trump's running mate said a “vigorous” voter-fraud investigation was underway.
This is not going to go down well. While this may seem miniscule compared to the sh*tstorm engulfing Trump, it is a local scandal in the state and could cost Trump yet another state. I don't recall the names of the two candidates running to replace Pence as governor, but from what I remember the democrat maintains a double digit lead over the republican. I think the republican is the Lt. governor of the state but I could be wrong.
In addition, Pence was already unpopular in the state and Hillary is gaining in the state. Hillary is starting to make inroads among white voters.
Tim Kaine on the other hand is rather well liked in Virginia and is seen as a positive.

Holcomb versus Gregg. Holcomb (D) has a 12% lead in the state. And yea Gregg is the Lt. governor.
Hillary is not viewed favorably by voters in the state, but Indianians think she has a far more favorable temperament than Trump, who they view as unstable.
Indiana is a majority white state with little diversity. Hillary seems to be more competitive among white women, even competitive among white conservative women. She is making inroads in Indiana even among Trumps supposed main base... Being white males.
That is why the race has narrowed and if this becomes a recurring pattern, Trump is even in more serious ****.
BTW, Trump has a 58% unfavorable rate in the state. Wow.
She is gaining and it seems Trump is losing favor among at least some white men. That and 27-30% of republicans plan not to support Trump.

Oooh, another hard-hitting piece from the Atlantic about a timely issue: "Why same-sex marriage bans risk Native American sovereignty." We were all wondering that, weren't we?
