  • How many times has the Bible been translated and rewritten anyways?
Codex Vaticanus is currently the oldest extant bible. It dates to the early 4th century, around 320 AD or so. It's in Greek. If you can read Greek, you have access to it.

You can also check it against later editions (like the Vulgate, etc), and you can see the differences between the two.

One - there are not very many difference between Vaticanus and modern Greek editions of the bible. They are very similar to one another, so we can be reasonable confident in textual accuracy. This, btw was not available in the time of King James (Vaticanus being discovered, and collated in the 19th, after it was revealed to be sitting in the Vatican library).

Two, the bible has far older manuscript history than any other ancient text, including the Odyssey. We have more and older copies of the bible than we do anything else by about a factor of ten. So if you're complaining about scripture not being textually accurate, that same complaint applies to everything from ancient times.

      Um... I don't really give a ****. Lol.

The bible to me has about the same worth as toilet paper.

Anyways still surprised about what I said yesterday? Some can't handle people different than them. They just go back to a 2,000 year old fictional book.

Also your third paragraph about the bible being the oldest is a pile of bull****. Christian fanatical bull****.

      • Because it doesn't matter
... would you have advocated the erradication of all germans after WW2, including the women and children and their cattle/pets for the things they did to the jews? And that was worse than the things the AMalekites did to the israelites according to the bible
It does matter. We can distinguish between the Germans who were responsible for the decision to kill the Jews and the Germans who were not involved. The Amalekites were not that large a tribe.

Also, what's happening to Germany now?

The point being, is that the Amalekites tried, (and failed), to exterminate peaceful Jews wandering in the desert. That's what started this whole thing. There were other tribes in the area that helped the Jews. If you are God, who's promised that the Jews would be His people - that covenant works both ways.

        • Catholic schools do often try to seek government money. That is why need their government recognized accreditation stripped.
LOL you just want them stripped because they have Catholic in the name. LOL

So much for equal protection, eh? I guess you don't really believe in the 14th.

          • Funny enough I have to agree with them ... who decides what isd to be taken literally and what not.
Great question. We have a magisterium that decides.

If they take public money, two things need to happen. No more public money and secondly, no more government recognized accreditation. You don't know the Constitution you always talk about. It doesn't surprise me because you lie about everything.

                  Peaceful?
IIRC the conquest of Judaea by the israelites hasn't been peaceful ... except for the tribe in the hills, which had iron chariots, which proved to be too powerful for god and therefore were left in peace

Also ... so you want to say that the kids, including the small babies of the Amalekites were also responsible for the attack on the Israelites?

This was prior to the conquest of Judea. They met the Amalekites when they were still in the desert. They were passing through, and met other tribes, but the Amalekites tried to exterminate them. They failed, the Jews passed through. They did not try to eliminate the Amalekites then, even though it would have been in self defense. That didn't come until God commanded them to do so after they had reached Israel.

I don't know about you, but I've never seen any atheist condemn the Amalekites for what they did to Israel. Not one. Why is that?

Did the Amalekites extend the same mercy to Jewish children? That is how lex talionis works. They tried to exterminate the Jews.

The constitution says nothing about public education, which only dates back to the late 19th century. There is nothing requiring states, requiring the federal government to fund any schools whatsoever.

Idiot keeps spouting off stupidity. There are federal laws, idiot. Maybe you should understand that before saying something as stupid as that. You want to get rid of public schools? Then where will kids go? To ****ing religious schools?

According to Exodus the surprise attack of the Amalekites turned into a normal battle between warrior hordes.
There is nothing about the Amalekites murdering israelite children or women, only about warriors battling.

In contrast to this there are very well passages about gods atrocious order to murder all living beings of the Amalekites

If the attack were a surprise attack, why would we conclude that the Amalekites had good intentions towards the Israelite children? If you're willing to murder their parents, then there's no reason they wouldn't have also murdered the children.

You can only speculate a´bout their intentions ... it may very well be that the attack was, to enslave the Israelites, or drive the Israelites out of Amalekite lands, to rob the israelites or, of course to eradicate them all.
Fact is, we cannot say it for sure because the Amalekites weren't successful in their attack.

What we know, however, according to the bible is, that gods chosen children exterminated a whole tribe and their animals without showing any mercy at all
