Yes, and? I had to wait 3 years to find a job here. I had to move and I had to go through the entire legal process of applying for my work visa.

Why can't these people do the same?

Are you saying they are less employable than a deaf Canadian history major?

          • Canada wasn't destroyed and you didn't have to risk your life to get to Texas so it's not really equivalant.

About the other thing, yes they are probably way more employable.

            • Regarding the russian-german girl who claimed to have been abducted and gang raped by a large group of southern looking men ... it now has turned out that she spent the time (when she allegedly was kidnapped) at the appartment of a 19 year old male german friend
(with her neither being forced to do so, nor any sex taking place (at least not with him ... it has turned out that she had 2 sexual encounters in the past, both being consensual and happening long before the alleged kidnapping))

It seems like the story is, that she had problems at school and didn´t dare to go home for several days (and hid away in said friends appartment) ... and when she finally dared to return home (guess after her vanishing became a big story in the media and the police was searching for her), she invented the gang rape/kidnapping so that she wouldn´t have to tell the truth

Im Fall des zeitweise verschwundenen deutsch-russischen Mädchens gibt es nach SPIEGEL-Informationen neue Erkenntnisse: Die 13-Jährige hielt sich offenbar bei einem Bekannten auf.

Supposedly they usually reject 45% of applicants so this represents business as usual. There is still the problem where the courts order people deported but the vast majority never actually get deported.

                • What I want to know is, where are they being deported back to? The warzone?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I´d guess that the deportation is completed, when the deportees have embarked at their country of origin ...
i.e. whether they stay in safe areas within their country or whether they travel to war zones (for example iof their home villages are located in them) is up to the deportees themselves. (after all, usually not the whole country is a war zone)

Of course that is, unless the country of origin reserves some special treatment for arriving deportees ... but that is not under the jurisdiction of the deporting state/s (like Sweden)

Of coruse the big problem is, getting the country of origin to take back their citizens first place ... a lot of countries (like Algeria I think) don´t have any "Take back"-treaties with many deporting states of the Eurozone ... and therefore often refuse to take back citizens of their countries ... especially if the citizens have "lost" their ID papers ... AFAIK one big reason why there is such a huge diescrepancy between the number of deportees and the number of people that actually get deported

So why is that an argument against resettlement in Greece?

Actually, they are, because they are a burden on the state.

                      • Not at all.
On the contrary they're the ones who keep the state going.

And the thing is that now other countries will open up their borders so that their beneficial effect can reach more people.
