The greek proposal that has the backing of germany is that: hotspots will be planted on greek islands (I didn't want this. I wanted those on turkey)

I know that Merkel talked to Zuckerberg (September last year, so way before the attacks) about Facebooks policy of leaving racist comments uncensored (which is/was extreme, as I mentioned some postings above, regarding #nippelstatthetze ) but I never heard anything about her pressuring Zuckerberg into removing anything that could shed a bad light on immigrants

It has been confirmed she pressured a number of companies and Facebook was just one. The cover was she wanted hate speech censored and the problem was the end result is lots of nonhate speech got censored. We also know German police were ordered not to record or publicise any migrants who commit crime while the German media was pressured not to cover migrants in a bad light.

At that point you pretty much have a government censorship policy complete with the government falsifying official crime data.

There have been higher police guys who complained indeed that the migrant/refugee background of certain cases (long before the Cologne stuff) has not been made public.

From the descriptions I do understand though that it's not some centralized system of top down orders where Merkel, the minister of interior or whoever calls the police in case X and tells them to STFU. The police is mostly under control of federal states anyway (with few exceptions, like our would-be FBI called BKA). It seems a prob of internal politics in those fed. states, and certain other concerns.

Of course, covering up stuff for whatever reasons (like the fear to fuel xenophobic attacks in reaction) is absurd, and btw also mostly counterproductive if it comes to dealing with the underlying probs.


As a general pt., the debate on this is highly politicized now in Krautland (and beyond) with lots of rumours, false claims and accusations (like the alleged gangrape of a 13yr old girl that made it into in Russian media http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a6823836.html ) that it is easy to fall for one hoax or the other, while at the same time there are of course serious cases like those happening in Cologne which should not be denied or marginalized in any way.

It all seems like a sticky wicket. On a related note Merkel has claimed that she would speed up deportations of failed asylum seekers. Is there any evidence that this is actually occurring in the numbers needed? This seems especially import as everyone is now projecting 2-3 million economic migrants posing as refugees in 2016.

What people have said is the allegations are pretty damn ing and there needs to be a complete top to bottom investigation to restore public confidence and the political meddling needs to be weeded out. If people can't have faith in the media and/or are not free to speak their minds then you don't have a free society.

As bad as the claims of soft censorship are even worse is the falsifying of official statistics. A weak case can at least be made about hate speech (and I mean very weak) but no case can be made that falsifying official statistics is justified. It is a clear case of politicians trying to deceive the people.

Ok, RT is a questionable source to me but I thought I would link it since it is listing other more creditable sources. The claim is that these Arab sex assault and robbery gangs did the same sort of mob attacks on women in 12 different German states on NYE. The classified police report was leaked to the press so it is pretty clear the government has been hiding this problem for at least the last month and probably longer.

Denmark is reporting similar sexual assaults by Arab men so now we are up to Germany, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, and Switzerland all having the exact same problem with the exact same group (young Arab men). When is it OK to properly identify this as an Arab/muslim problem?

It is far past time to take off the fantasy sun glasses where everyone signs kombiya together and start dealing with the reality of the situation. Europe has a systematic problem with one foreign group. Oh, and education (" We have to educate the migrants that robbery and sexual assault is not ok") is not going to solve anything. They already know that robbery, rape, and sexual assault is wrong but they just don't care and know the odds are no one will ever catch them much less punish them.

Well, this is at least good news. Germany has followed both Switzerland and Denmark saying the migrants must follow the same asset rules as citizens when applying for welfare. That means any assets over a certain amount will be seized if the person in question applies to receive welfare.
