Oh, the US won't become directly involved. The media release today said they are ditching the expensive training and just stepping up deliveries of weapons and ammo to the moderate faction. Russia and Assad desperately want to wipe out the moderates, it is their primary target (even the French and Turks say 90% of Russian attacks have been on the moderates) because they want the choice to be between Assad and ISIS without a moderate third way.

At this point our best option is to pull out all the stops and deliver weapons to the moderates so it becomes a proxy war where Russia sinks in and can't figure out how to escape from. They are going to find that getting out is a lot harder than getting in.
