They couldn't erase my various social problems.
Yeah, I basically dropped out of high school after various social and behavior problems, but I was so frustrated at my inability to perform academically despite knowing I had the ability to do these things."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

I'm still at the point where I need to find a reason to read your posts.

I didn't drop out of high school, I just did a mediocre job because I had no real motive to succeed or thrive, only to do well enough to not get screamed at. I effectively had no social life, and meds only partially resolved my depression. And then there was the fact that, even back then, you pretty much had to try to actually fail high school, especially if you're learning-disabled (your advocates will push to let you get away with most everything, and you'll catch on to that quick). It's even worse now, I think.
Anyway, I was a miserable, arrogant, friendless misanthrope. Then I got to college, where they actually allowed me to fail, and shame finally gave me some motivation. Not a lot, but some. Still made mistakes (English major!), but not as bad, and I think my wife did a lot to screw my head on straighter. I think Lori is really the closest match to me on here, though even then there are stark differences.
