I had forgotten about my brother's donkey Ming, thanks for the reminder. Its great that you keep a candle lit for my brother's dead female ass.

Funny, don't recall going ape****, but it really depends on how you define ape****. For instance, here's how I define going ape****...

Its a bit of a read but the ape definitely took a big sinkin ****. Better edit it quick Ming! Delete, Delete, Delete!

    Enjoy!

Yes, the dead place, but you did say it in the thread you linked.

Hmmmm... I remember that incident. And in reviewing the thread, I don't hold the same opinion that you seem to.
We had a serious problem, and I was asked by the owners to deal with it. And except for a few of the members of the cheating team, it finally ended well.
I received many thanks from the members of the other teams... and most realized what a hard position the site had been placed in.

So you are more than welcome to "see" something that supports your biased opinions, but it is just that, opinion.

I have no problem with people reviewing the thread and making their own opinions on the subject.

              • I just looked over that thread, and I don't see anything objectionable about what Ming said or did. Blood Oath Horde was guilty of cheating, and some members of that team were acting like Catholic bishops about the whole thing.
                John Brown did nothing wrong.

You are welcome to your opinion. As I said, I will leave it to anybody that reviews the thread to come up with their own opinion.
Frankly, I don't think very many people would agree with yours. But then again, that's what opinions are.

                  • Lancer, what exactly did you hope to gain by reposting that thread? Ming and I have had our battles - but he's been a helluva moderator here at Apolyton. I do not believe that I would have done so well in such a sticky wicket as he did.

Chrisius Maximus would have got banhammered and permabanned from all Poly demogames for his flaming. Paddy and all three who had access would have also been permabanned for cheating. The game would have ended, forfeited by the Horde and a coalition victory for all the other teams.

But then, I'm not Ming. The Horde got off very lightly for their transgressions from Beta et al.

Oh yes! ...and that is why when Apolyton split apart and the lifeboats were filling that he was left treading water. Said he wanted to be retired, like saying, "I don't want in the lifeboat, drowning is better." If Ming was doing such a good job, why did the site split largely because of the trolling as is public record?

You apparently don't know the history Tuber. Yup, great job!

Some were innocent Felch. Had Ming been on that team and innocent he would have been crying a river to be so treated. Being on the team does not mean you are guilty, just unlucky. Innocent until proven guilty, remember?

The presumption of guilt by association, the high moral blithering, the total lack of comradery in a game forum. B a d moderating, horrible for the site.

                        • Trying to paint my choices as being made out of ignorance is rather insulting. I've been here since 2001, and know how to read. Ming has handled his responsibilities very well, which isn't surprising given how he handled situations like the one you posted.

                          • Sorry if I was mistaken, no insult intended.

Corrected...it was an assumption and I see it was inaccurate.

Our opinions of Ming vary greatly Aeson, and this is where you said such stuff can be discussed. So here I am as you said. My experience with him backs me up all I need, but in that you cannot know but what you've been told by him, his "revisionist history".

If you adopt an 'I'll support my mods' attitude no matter what, you might get a surprise, as Markos did. After he gave up being an admin he was enjoying and participating in a thread I had, some sort of competition, don't recall. Ming deleted the thread, another arbitrary deletion, Markos asked why and got no reply. Which gave me one huge chance to tell Markos "SEE" about all the crap I'd been PM ing him about for y e a r s. He always went with the mod, never looked into it, never did "see" until the end.

                            • Ming hasn't told me anything of your past history. I don't need him to, or care to even know about it. I'm not going to get into some "he said he said" situation encompassing the last 15 years where I can't verify any of the "private" claims being made. People who approach me with such tales are just docking themselves points. I don't like drama, rumors, or hearsay.

What I do care about is how posters have behaved publicly, how they behave now, and how they will behave going forward. Those are readily apparent. Ming has upheld his responsibilities very well the last 4 months, doing a great job of what I've asked of him. He deserves my recognition of that fact and my support for that.

In any case, thank you for keeping it in the OT. I don't think it really serves the direction you want the site to head though.

Thanks for the reply. I was particularly struck by this statement, which I view as a major, game changing, epic improvement in site policy.

                                You are welcome.
