I don't know about that. Every time I see the other forum I think it's stating that this forum isn't good enough for them. I see that as more their problem then ours.

Seriously - I've been getting to know OT and the culture from the inside for a while now because I like talking crap without worrying about getting in trouble. I've seen both sides of the question.

I've come to believe over the years that a selection of styles is good for the overall Civ community. CFC is a good fit for some people. I don't understand those people, but over there's CFC with more than its share, whatever I think. This place is (almost) anything goes, and that definitely has its adherents, and I wouldn't change this OT much either if it was up to me. CFC's advantage has everything to do with factors not the civility of the culture, which I don't find very civil at all, as it happens. The Pandas tried to find a goldilocks zone between, and the failure of WPC is not due to the tone of the forum culture, but management neglect.

This is a big ol' empty house outside OT, and CFC isn't going to bend to accommodate other tastes, but we can. There's room. I'm sure you'd like the dog this tail wags to be healthy, right? Civil OT can grow to be part of that, with no need for partisans doing anything to spoil each other's fun. It neither breaks your leg nor picks your pocket, as Jefferson said.

You do seem to have a lot of those; old grudges and personality conflicts, I mean. If you started letting go of those old grudges you'd probably find you have fewer conflicts with other people.

Oerdin, I wouldn't acknowledge your existence or be able to participate here in general if I was all that bad at letting things go, okay? I used to get libeled left right and center in half the anti-panda-b*tching threads when I'd done nothing to no one here. I've let it go. You, on the other hand, did something I consider a personal betrayal, and you're not even faintly contrite, preferring to be shirty and defensive when it comes up. Forgetting what you did is annoying, or pretending you don't remember is, depending. -And I think that's your problem. You have an easy way out if you want forgiveness, but I won't ask.

I'm trying to not dwell on it or pursue a vendetta. I spanked you a couple of times and I'm satisfied. But if you want to be friends -which I'll deny if you repeat it, but I would like- it's your move.

Panda failed because it was boring, even in it's heyday it never had much traffic. I mostly posted there for Nikolai's sake (I started an AAR) over there and for Zkribbler, who's another friend of mine. When Paradox had better commentating, I moved my AAR over there.

If panda folks want to start their own forum again, go for it, have at it. Taking Poly and making it more panda, well, that offends a lot of people here. Poly didn't fail, Panda did. Now, Poly might fail in the future, but I certainly don't see why the Panda folks get to tell Poly how to run things after you screwed up pandaforum.

People see 'civility' as the answer. Me, I see it as Buster and Lancer wanting to settle old scores. You can ban people on civility that you couldn't otherwise ban. They are both miserable that their forum collapsed and have been lobbying heavily to Aeson to accommodate them.

It's worked too, Aeson created a forum for Lancer and Buster.

As long as Aeson is willing to bend over backwards to accommodate them, they are going to be demanding more, including settling of old poly scores here in OT and 'civility' bans. I see it coming.

What I can't understand is this. You shat up WPC. Why are you shatting all over Poly now? If you don't like how Poly does things, start WPC II or something. Or do it like L'Event part VII or whatever they are on.
