In fact IIRC this forum has been a lot better for a long time - it's almost as if the people that were the real problem here voluntarily left of their own accord leaving the nice posters...?I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

Two things:
1.) I was a great tree climber in my youth, but I'm big enough for most of my life now that the scrapes that come with tree-climbing are formidable and I don't do it hardly ever anymore. I do not remember any pictures of me up a tree online. Perhaps I've forgotten.
2.) And if I haven't already made it abundantly clear, I support the existence of Civil OT. I'm not participating for reasons I'm not going to discuss, but it's a good idea for the future of Apolyton. Period.
However, for reasons to do with personality conflicts and old grudges, the idea is very unpopular here in the troll pit. Nik, starting this thread was impolitic of you - not a criticism or any kind of attack, but advice. This thread is not going to promote Civil; it only serves to annoy the many people opposed. Any observations as to the downside of a trollish forum culture do nothing to dissuade the trollish - they feel provoked, and I'm surprised the bounce-back hasn't been more intense. Mobius tends to have it exactly right above, something he's become prone to since he largely reformed.
The best way, in short, to grow Civil as members is to patiently keep doing what you've been doing - post. Activity draws more activity. A lot of the guys are looking in there; let it happen, and ignore this thread. I'm trying to be helpful.

I don't know about that. Every time I see the other forum I think it's stating that this forum isn't good enough for them. I see that as more their problem then ours.
Just my opinion. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
