You are so very very very wrong.

My father's best friend is a former prosecutor and a defense attorney and he has seen more false rape cases than you'd believe. In one of the funnier examples, the man against whom the accusation was made had secretly taped the encounter. In the video the woman walks into the bathroom, comes out naked, pushes him against the bed, takes his pants off, and begins riding him. That case got dropped when the tape came out and the woman was charged with something, I don't remember what.

(I'm told the tape wasn't uh, very exciting, they were both pretty unattractive)

There was another example in which a woman got a restraining order against her ex-husband. She then invited him over because she "missed him" after which she claimed he sexually assaulted her and violated the restraining order. During the consultation with my father's friend (my dad was actually present at this since), she calls him on his cell phone and asks him to come over again. What she didn't know was that the phone was on speaker next to a tape recorder. Case dropped.

People do really destructive and pointlessly vindictive things to their exes all the time, and one thing a woman can do to really get back at her ex is accuse him of raping her. It shouldn't be shocking that it's so common.

I've never been falsely accused of murder either but I don't like the idea of being kicked out of college simply for being accused of murder either. Do you?

            • The difference being that this is the first time you've brought up being falsely accused of murder, but this is the umpteenth time that you've brought up being falsely accused of rape. Why the disconnect?

              • People do get falsely accused of rape, but to hear Kidicious talk about it, you'd think women are only motivated by a desire to separate men from their money and land them in prison. It's really amazing how far he is off the reservation.

i'm not saying that it doesn't happen, i'm saying it's not a thing. just like someone has to win the lottery, but wining the lottery isn't actually a thing.

                    No.

No, no, no, a thousand times no.

The culprit behind college rapes is rapists.

Okay yeah I agree with that, mostly.

This is gonna sound odd--but it depends on your definition of rape, which on college campuses, is now usually generalized to "sexual assault" which is a quite expansive term.

I'm not quite sure I follow. In terms of frequency?

"Every year since 1989, in about 25 percent of the sexual assault cases referred to the FBI where results could be obtained, the primary suspect has been excluded by forensic DNA testing.
It's about 1 in 4 or so. And hasn't changed much over the years.

                        • Ben, in a false rape case like the kind Kidicious is describing, the accused would almost certainly not be exonerated by DNA evidence. Try again. (actually please don't)

i can't find the image macro i want, and i'm really of no motivation to craft it right now, but i'm reminded of the scene in The Big Lebowski:

Walter Sobchak: ****ing Germans. Nothing changes. ****ing Nazis.
                                Donny: They were Nazis, Dude?
Walter Sobchak: Oh, come on Donny, they were threatening castration! Are we gonna split hairs here? Am I wrong?
