Obviously they are not really French. Didn't you see those pictures of black people and middle easterners working at their pubs? Clearly these are foreign invaders attempting to suppliant real French people. [/Front National]Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

There's enough money coming in to fund the government. If Obama were willing to let the country default rather than not get his way? I don't see how the republicans could be blamed for it. They did negotiate. We don't call a parent 'grown up' when they cave to the child tossing his toy out of the pram.Apparently they did budge...for the overall good of the country. Obama would have let us default before he budged...and said so.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

The only person who had any control over the shutdown was John Boehner (due to a last second parliamentary move). As speaker of the House, he could have introduced a bill to end it at any point.Originally posted by PLATO View PostApparently they did budge...for the overall good of the country. You are either severely misinformed about how the government functions... and need to go back to a junior high school social studies class... or you are lying. To us, it is the BEAST.

They had sent several bills up to the senate that could have ended it at any point, but the Democratic controlled senate refused to even vote on them.Originally posted by Sava View PostThe only person who had any control over the shutdown was John Boehner (due to a last second parliamentary move). The Tea Party has turned out to be idiotic. It is the moderate Republicans that took the high road. Our whinny President wasn't up to the task.Originally posted by MrFun View PostYou are just so precious, PLATO.
Tea Bagger-type Republicans finally relented to pressure from moderate (sane, smart) Republicans and Democrats; they did not give up because they were thinking of the greater good of their country.
There was nothing grown-up about how the Tea Bagger-type Republicans gave up; especially now that some of them insist that they will try to shut the government down again, in January to continue their fight."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. It's fun to say that, I know. But that tactic failed. And upwards of 80% of America thinks so.Originally posted by PLATO View PostThey had sent several bills up to the senate that could have ended it at any point, but the Democratic controlled senate refused to even vote on them.

The other 20% are out to lunch then. It definitely failed, but through democratic intransigence to negotiate something reasonable for the country's future...not Republicans (or Boehner as you mentioned) failing to act.Originally posted by Sava View PostIt's fun to say that, I know. Negotiate what? The Republicans took the government hostage and complained when Democrats refused to let them play that silly game. You aren't fooling anyone.Originally posted by PLATO View PostThe other 20% are out to lunch then. Negotiate a long term solution to the borrowing binge the gov't has been on. Negotiate to make programs sustainable. Not let the present administration keep kicking the can down the road. What do you think a "clean" CR is? Nothing but kicking the can down the road....again.Originally posted by Sava View PostNegotiate what? QFTOriginally posted by Guynemer View PostThe problem isn't "Obamacare", necessarily. The problem is that health care is 20% of our economy for no ****ing good reason, and "Obamacare" does sweet ****-all to solve that problem.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.
