    Direct costs. Total costs.

I thought you cared about deficit issues? Why are you trying to weasel out of this?

      Riiiiiight....

Just like it was Boehner and Mitchell's fault for letting Obama get tax increases with no real concessions... Kool-aid drinker!

Because indirect costs not relegated to the federal budget do not directly affect the debt. Certainly there is a larger cost to society and these will affect revenue and perhaps some other expenditures, but surely you are not trying to argue that $6 Trillion dollars was paid out of the treasury...

        • Honestly though, this is really the 3rd time since Obama won (including the two times he won the election) where democrats and supporters really feel like they won for realsies. The amount of self doubt among democrats is astounding but its there.

          • Yeah, putting Italy and Germany on the same bag is akin to putting Mexico and the US... Hell, northern Italy might even compare, southern Italy is another matter altogether.

Obama with his "my way or the highway" attitude would have let us default for sure before giving one inch on his pet little project to govermentalize 20% of the economy. Yes...the Republicans are the grownups here. Anyone who believes differently is deep in the Obama Kool-Aid. Just look at how people who support him respond. It is down right unbelievable. Do they have any idea what they are actually supporting? Unsustainable programs and unsustainable spending? Really? Oh yeah...but the poor get health care! Right...for how long? How long until we can no longer afford health care for anyone?

Let's just hope that Obama and Reid are not the liars they have been before and that they will actually negotiate over how to put the country back on a fiscally sound path. I will say that the democratic party has done a good job of duping so many into believing that tax and spend is the answer. I guess the Europeans can be given a little slack as they have been buying that bull**** for a while now. Funny how Europe has become so much less relevant in the world...wonder why?

So...go ahead and gloat dems and liberals. Your victory comes at a cost to the country and the world. If only you were smart enough to see it and not so bought in on an extremely stupid and unsustainable model...

Why didn't you ever become a professional/paid spin doctor for a Republican politician? You package your distortions and unbalanced viewpoint very well.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Actually, it was Tea Bagger-type Republicans in U.S. Congress who had the "my way or the highway" attitude.

They presented a list of demands for President Obama without budging on anything themselves.
