No more like it was never a viable vector for species harm in the first place, no need to worry about it now that the numbers culled and hunted are even less making what was insignificant even moreso.

        Much like your commentaries.

Yes let's assume the bullets are equally distributed throughout the country from Alaska to California
Let's assume that California has equal number of bullets as the rest of America.

Basically if 1 in 10 persons picks up a bullet in a year, it would eliminate the problem altogether. Not a significant vector given the actual presence of Lead in the environment.

Setting aside the ridiculousness of what else you said (as Gribbler has already dealt with it nicely), how did you go from 3000 to 300?
3,000 is still just 9 bullets per square mile. At 3k, it's also 3 million kilograms or about 30 million bullets total.

They are assuming that each bullet kills 2/3rd of a bird, making ammunition left on the ground more effective at killing birds than shooting it at birds.

Sure, because you saying it makes it true. No need to bother with any of that pesky science and evidence nonsense. California is planning a ban to try and save its endangered species because they're just lame liberals who want to take away the guns.

Maybe bullets could come with a warning label, "May contain lead. Not to be taken internally."

These liberals, next thing you know, they are going to tell us that depleted uranium is dangerous.

Well, about 4 million tons of lead are mined every year, versus about 8000 tons of bismuth. Considering that bismuth is only about twice as common as gold, I doubt that it's realistic to see a drop in price from economies of scale. In fact, increased use for bismuth as a lead replacement has driven prices higher and higher.

There are other potential replacements for lead, but none of them perform as well for the cost.

In time the increased price will result an increase in availability. People who find new mines because it is no so profitable to do so.

But that's not going to bring the prices down, only slow the growth.

A bit of lead in a berm is vastly different from leaded gasoline. Location and vector are everything. The reason lead shot was a problem has nothing at all to do with poisoning of the water, or the ground, or anything, it's because birds actually ate the lead pellets. The lead getting into the environment or whatever is a complete non-issue. Before it got made into bullets it was sitting in the ground as big hunks of lead in the first place.

We have things like pewter statues and stuff. It doesn't hurt you if it's just a solid block. It's not like it releases toxic vapors or anything. You have to actually ingest it.

Further evidence that people and other animals do not die from simply being around lead: houses used to all be painted with lead paint not very long ago. It was hazardous because kids would eat the chips of paint coming off the walls. But there was no issue of huge portions of the population suffering severe lead poisoning despite constant exposure.
