I'll agree with the actual bet, but I want to have somebody (Jaguar?) act as escrow agent for the bet's funds. IE, we both give $10 to him and he gives the winner $20 in ten years (or, presumably, much sooner )

I like your SNOOPY POSTER! - While you Wait quote.
Worldwide the present birthrate is just 2.4. We're closer to a population crunch with too few children than we are to a population explosion with too many.
You're the one calling for the explosion. Please own the consequences of your cheerleading.
There have been many massive starvation events in third world countries idiot. Worldwide we haven't recently suffered it because the first world soundly rejects your medieval world view.
The UN's low prediction is actually rather robustly optimistic on future birthrates. I think in the next 10-15 years we'll actually see world population start to decline. Which means big problems for the economy. We're already seeing aging effects in China and Japan and in Russia.
A decline in the world population is not a bad thing. There is absolutely no necessity for the world population to keep rising, and if it does we have some incredibly uncomfortable and dangerous realities to face in future. As for economy, that is the same idiotic thinking. Please explain exactly why it is desirably for the overall size of the economy to keep rising in a world of limited space and limited resources?
If you're married, yeah I believe part of marriage is having children. If you don't want children don't get married. Duh.
People get married for lots of reasons, and children are not always even in the top 10. Then again you don't want married people to have children, you want married people to have LOTS of children, as many as their bodies are physically capable of producing. Regardless of the poverty, pain and misery that might cause.
Are you saying those who put their children up for adoption are 'irresponsible'?
No you dishonest piece of ****, I'm calling you irresponsible for wanting a world where vast numbers of children are born who cannot be supported by their parents and instead end up in care homes desperate for adoptive parents. In that scenario the number of children would wildly outnumber the potential adoptive parents, so you'd just have millions of kids in care homes. Nice society you've conjured up for yourself there.
Like Zimbabwe? Zimbabwe was actually able to feed a larger population when Mugabe wasn't in power. Perhaps the problem is Mugabe. Maybe when he dies we can find out.
Nice job going off on a tangent about one country rather than addressing the fact that there are children nobody wants
It's a good thing *you* don't. But some population controllers *do* advocate this.
LOL therefore it's relevant to discussion involving condoms! Idiot.
Why are you surprised? Both are classic Ben tactics.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

There's an estimate of 20 kids dying from malnutrition per day over here. Having more kids is certainly the answer

Right, aren't you in a currency crisis right now? Maybe if you had a competent administration, things would be different. But no, it's insufficient amounts of condoms that has brought Argentina to her knees.

addressing the fact that there are children nobody wants
So the solution to the problem 'that there are children nobody wants' is to get rid of the children?
And I'm gonna need a [[citation needed]] there.

Absolutely - look at in China. Forced abortion + sterilization.

Right, aren't you in a currency crisis right now? Maybe if you had a competent administration, things would be different. But no, it's not having sufficient condoms.
We are still the world's third largest soybean producer, so the food is there. Also, these numbers were also true so 5 years ago, when there was no 'currency crisis'.
I do agree that the administration is far from competent, but your claim was that if the children's parents aren't able to care for them, somebody else would. Why doesn't anybody?

As in "have fewer unwanted children in the first place"? That would obviously help the problem.
Absolutely - look at in China. Forced abortion + sterilization.
Seriously stupid. It's like saying "economic development is bad. Look at how heavily polluted China is". Your comment would be relevant if someone was upholding China as a role model.

Worldwide we haven't recently suffered it because the first world soundly rejects your medieval world view.
So what you're saying is that there's no population crisis, there's never been a population crisis and fearmongering and demogoguery on this topic proved to be wrong.
A decline in the world population is not a bad thing.
Yes, it is a bad thing. Aging population is also a bad thing because it's an inflection in the second derivative of growth. We're just starting to see the effects since 2000, in essentially flat market growth and drops in real value.
There is absolutely no necessity for the world population to keep rising
If you want to see poverty decrease, then yes, population should continue to rise. A population crunch like we see in Japan, Russia and now China will devastate their economies. This phenomenon spreading worldwide will have the same effect.
Please explain exactly why it is desirably for the overall size of the economy to keep rising in a world of limited space and limited resources?
The alternative is death spiral. See Japan. Spiralling debt, smaller taxbase is a horrible way to go.
People get married for lots of reasons
I firmly believe that if you can have children and choose to get married that you should have children with your spouse. If you don't want to have children but can, don't get married. It's not fair to the other partner.
No you dishonest piece of ****, I'm calling you irresponsible for wanting a world where vast numbers of children are born who cannot be supported by their parents and instead end up in care homes desperate for adoptive parents. As opposed to the society of Japan today? Or perhaps 'Children of Men', which is already happening?

So then perhaps the fault lies with Argentine society in choosing other priorities over feeding the hungry.
I daresay our King, Lord and Master isn't going to let Argentina off the hook for it's poor decisions.
I do agree that the administration is far from competent, but your claim was that if the children's parents aren't able to care for them, somebody else would. Why doesn't anybody?
Why doesn't Argentine society feed these children? You're blaming condoms for a failure of Argentine society.

No, as in the truthfulness of that statement, "there are children no one wants". I'd like you to prove it. Are you telling me that if you wrapped up a child in swaddling clothes and took her into the local convent that the Nuns would turn you away?

Damn if only those ignorant foreigners realized that the thousands of children around the world who starve every day just needed to be taken to "the local convent".
