What sort of cover? Hide behind a couch? Seems too risky if you have to kill more than one but I'm sure you know more about gunning down people than I do.Originally posted by Felch View PostLet's assume for sake of argument that we're not talking about muzzle loaders. Modern semi-automatic firearms trivialize multiple homicides. The advantage would go to whoever is behind cover, which would presumably be the homeowner.

Lots of possibilities - car doors, wooden walls, furniture - the list have no endOriginally posted by gribbler View PostWhat sort of cover?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

If you don't fight back you surly will die. At least go down fighting.Originally posted by gribbler View PostWhat sort of cover? Hide behind a couch? Seems too risky if you have to kill more than one but I'm sure you know more about gunning down people than I do.

Well, this dude could probably got rid of the intruders just by making noises. That worked fine for me when a couple of guys smashed my kitchen window while I was sleeping. That of course woke me up and I started yelling and they ran away. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. Would you rather be one of two people exposed in some stranger's foyer, or the one person fighting from even a semi-protected position? Cover and concealment determine who wins a firefight, whether you're charging through the mud of Ypres or in your own house. The kid in the home knew that these guys were coming in, and he'd have been able to get the drop on them. That means that at least one intruder, and possibly both, could have been killed or seriously wounded without getting a chance to fire.Originally posted by gribbler View PostWhat sort of cover? Bottom line, I'd much rather defend than invade a house. Only way I'd want to invade a defended home is if I had some way of neutralizing their advantage (molotov through an upstairs window would be a good start).John Brown did nothing wrong.

I'm sorry that reality didn't live up to your fanciful expectations.Originally posted by Asher View PostThis incident would've been far more American if the kid had a gun and was poorly trained. He could've shot at the intruders, killed one of them before he was killed. Only one or two neighbours would've been hit by stray bullets, too.

Quite rigth, that is the way to rob a house where you expect the owners to have gunsOriginally posted by Felch View PostBottom line, I'd much rather defend than invade a house. Even if the odds are in your favor it's not necessarily worth it to take, say, a 10% chance of getting killed rather than lose some of your belongings.Originally posted by Felch View PostWould you rather be one of two people exposed in some stranger's foyer, or the one person fighting from even a semi-protected position?
