Okay I'm an idiot. I bought the game without waiting for a response to my question in this thread and was totally unaware of the server issues. I can't play. What the ****. I am a convert to this "always online" thing being a ****ing stupid idea.

I'm sure it'll be fixed in a week or so. Diablo was totally unplayable for the first 3 days as well. But yeah right now SC5 is a no-go for almost everyone.

I would love for someone with technical expertise weigh in on whether this is a logistics issue with not enough server space (easily fixable) or a deeper programming issue. It does seem odd that there are only 4 NA servers, but I'm not sure if that's just the list, and there's actually more that are unlisted.

My biggest problem isn't the DRM itself, it is the limitations it forced on the gameplay (small tile size, limited intercity connections, etc). I support any effort to **** up pirates, but this effort appeared to utter fail while also forcing the scaling back of features from previous iterations.

With the graphics and level of simulation here, I think it's obvious the "tile size" had to be much smaller than SC4 in any event. My machine stutters on high at some points as it is on cheetah speed. There's much more going on than before.
