Yup. That's a good comparison.

At least Civ 5 works though. They didn't get rid of the core singleplayer experience in favor of some sort of PBEM scheme where your civilization depends on how other people play their game... or forcing you to take control of other civs just to see how cool it is for them to work together.

I will say that those Amazon scores are probably killing a lot of sales. A lot.

Love the new patch:


* Fix for crash caused most commonly occurring on servers experiencing lag. This crash would happen most often when claiming a new city when playing in a region.
* Fix for server select dialog not appearing on start-up if the server the player was last on is not available.
* Disabled Cheetah speed. Cheetah speed is is now the same as llama speed.

This probably makes the game unplayable. It's hard to get a decent city going without spending maybe half your money on roads right off the bat. I've been making my basic layout, getting good revenue, then turning the speed on cheetah to earn enough cash to build more.

Playing a game usually consists of interacting with it in some way. If I have to sit around watching sims for hours before making $5k to build some roads, I'm watching a game... not playing it.

I actually remember the copy protection of the original SimCity:

A pamphlet-sized piece of dark red paper with a list of the world's most populated cities along with their populations, written in black. When launching the game, it would at random pick out a city or population, and you had to match it up.
