Teachers who have carry permits would be allowed to carry on school grounds. Just the same way that all the other non gun free zones function. And crazy as it might sound, it sounds infinitely more crazy to have high profile, unprotected targets in a country brimming with heavily armed crazy people.

You're right about how creepy, weird, and unlikeable he is. AKs are ugly, heavy, and Russian. Real Americans stockpile ARs.

Just pointing out that this doesn't exactly solve the issue: you're causing people of unknown competence to have potentially lethal weapons in the presence of children. I thought US law dictated that firearms be kept locked away from children, but IIRC that's only when unattended? Still, risks of accidents happening, and if someone else were to assault a school and kill an armed teacher they would potentially have more weapons to inflict damage with. Plus you have the potential of a school teacher going on a rampage, though I suppose that if you are trusting them with children what's the problem with trusting them a little more.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

        • Not only ugly and heavy, but they're just not as good as ARs either.

It sounds crazy, but it really does seem to work everywhere else in America. Mass shootings seem to always happen in places that prohibit firearms.

Self defense is a perfectly legitimate purpose. Even if it's extremely unlikely, it's perfectly legitimate.

I don't have any data on this, so I will concede the possibility that most guns just sit in a garage unused. But all the gun owners I know at least occasionally take them shooting.

I'm not certain, but I suspect that unauthorized firearms were forbidden in the Soldier Readiness Processing Center. They might have allowed concealed carry permit holders to carry, but I don't know. The Army has its own laws and regulations which I'm not familiar with, and soldiers are excluded from many Constitutional protections.

I'm sure Arkansas has its share of shootings, but I'm just not certain which one you're referring to.

Carrying firearms is generally forbidden for all personnel except on-duty MPs on military bases if I recall.

Other people having weapons didn't deter him from attempting to kill people. As reg said, I think MPs normally carry weapons (I'm pretty sure it's the same over here FWIW).
