Ammunition can be made at home. Plus individually stamping each round would be expensive, thereby encouraging more people to reload their brass.Originally posted by dannubis View PostReg, would you agree with a very tight ammunition control? Each round has an ID number and you as a gun / ammunition shop owner are responsible for that number?
The Economist had a nice piece in their Lexington blog, and they said that the only real solution is to take away all the guns. The half measures frequently proposed would do nothing to prevent slaughter. Since that's not going to happen, I think that we need to think more assertively in how to prevent such mass killings. I think that the current policy of making schools "gun free" zones has done nothing to protect students from these mass shootings. Getting rid of that nonsense should be the first step.John Brown did nothing wrong.

Well he wanted to make people feel like **** for owning things that kill people. It seemed like a meaningless description to me.Originally posted by kentonio View PostWow, that's an original comeback.I'm not in the business of answering issues not in the post I quote. You ever tried to kill a big group of people with a sharp pencil? You're trying to move the goal posts MRT144 laid down for himself. Why is that? You think cars and knives might just have a few other uses other than killing?I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Hunting which involves killing things right? Target shooting meanwhile being practice for killing things. Obviously you can enjoy merely the practice and never have any intention of using a gun on a person, but if you think that peoples right to blow holes in a piece of paper is more important than say a school full of childrens right to be alive, then there is little hope for you.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostTarget shooting and hunting, dufus.

There are a couple of exceptions to what MRT said, some people in rural areas do need guns for vermin control or hunting, but anyone who lives in the surburbs and feels the need to own a room full of semi-automatic weapons has reality issues.Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostYou're trying to move the goal posts MRT144 laid down for himself. What, do we still live in the 18th century for ****s sake? It's pathetic hearing this crap from people who should know better. The government is the people you keep voting for, how the hell are they suddenly going to rise up and try and enslave you? With, you know, that army that's made up of American people with families and friends who form the other 90% of Americans.Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostI'm not sure it's a wise practice to surrender rights to the government simply because they found a convenient bloody shirt to wave.
You talk about waving a bloody shirt, when you lot have been doing exactly that for decades. Fear of government, fear of intruders, fear of gangs, fear, fear, always ****ing fear. Are you a nation of cowards or something? You don't think your countrymen can be trusted to just be decent human beings?

You can do that without semi-auto weapons. Bolt action, lever action, pump action or single shot rifles and shotguns are more than enough for hunting.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostTarget shooting and hunting, dufus.
Target shooting is a useless hobby, you can't use it to justify owning a gun.Graffiti in a public toilet

Um... no. No I don't. Isn't that their sole purpose?Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostDo you think guns might have a few uses other than killing?

To take this scenario as a starting point, how does making schools armed a good thing? Do you force teachers to have and use guns to defend the children? Or do you just go the straightforward route of getting security guards for every school?Originally posted by Felch View PostAmmunition can be made at home. What I am trying to say is that few gun owners own guns simply because they have some masturbatory fixation on killing. As far as I can tell, most just enjoy the sport of shooting.Originally posted by Guynemer View PostUm... no. No I don't. Isn't that their sole purpose?

Now, the crazy uncle with a shed full of AKs and **** probably does have such a masturbatory fixation. And he is creepy and weird and unlikeable. But they usually aren't the folks who go around on these rampages anyway. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Come on, HC. How many gun owners actually go target shooting? Even so, guns have one purpose. One. It is foolish to suggest otherwise, just as foolish as it is to suggest that all gun owners harbor a secret wish to shoot up their local school/mall/theatre/state capitol."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
