Police officers at high schools are pretty common, but at least in California, there are far more middle schools than high, and far more elementary than middle. Police presence at middle schools is pretty uncommon. Expanding coverage to all schools would cost a ton of money - probably a ten fold increase in school district police staff, and it would take a while to get enough qualified officers through training facilities. In San Diego County, there is a single main multi-agency training facility, and every agency that participates has a certain number of student slots to support their pace of recruitment.

Comparing Breivik's rampage to this school shooting in CT is perfectly valid.

Fairfax County Public Schools has a resident cop in every high school, but it's just one policeman. Some of the middle schools in the "rougher" areas (as rough as it gets in Fairfax) have a cop if I recall correctly, but not all of them. The only policemen who are ever at elementary schools are traffic cops to be crossing guards, keep crazy Virginia drivers from running over kids walking home.

Putting a resident cop in elementary schools would be an exorbitant expense and pull police from other areas where crime is worse and people are at higher risk.

No, that doesn't make any sense at all. Breivik didn't got on a killing rampage at a elementary school - he hit a summer camp for a certain party.

It's quite clear they would like someone to wave the bloody shirt of this event and argue for the repeal of the 2nd Amendment?

I'm assuming this camp was filled with children so I'm struggling to see how you think it a meaningful difference.

Yes, and? Breivik targetted children in an area where he believed he could be successful in killing them. So did Adam Lanza. Same targets, same result.

And Norway's gun control isn't that strict anyway so that is another fallacy. In the UK, serious control of handguns came in after Dunblane which this looks similar too, but I dont see that happening in the US.

So the people of Norway should be held responsible for Breivik? Isn't that collective responsibility? That's simply wrong. Breivik was Breivik. What he did, he, himself, is responsible for, not the people of Norway. Same here. Blaming America for policies you don't like is simply wrong. You should be blaming the killer.

No offense, but a society that considers it "normal" to ha armed guards in schools from kindergarten to high school can't be healthy. I know that there are lots pf yanks that are afraid of the state getting too powerful, but what about all of those security companies that watch you ?

Oh, well, If I was a yanky, I'll probably buy a lot of guns to protect myself

I don't think anyone is blaming the US rather than the gunman. That said he would have struggled to do as much damage if armed with knives or a sword or even a hunting rifle rather than handguns. Idiots with guns can cause more fatalities than idiots without. That said, as mentioned earlier, many countries with similar gun control laws have fewer shootings per capita so guns aren't the only factor.

Stop being an idiot, you are better than that - it was a teenage summer camp for members of a party.
