No idea if there has been any polling. I only know what I see. There are alot more Zerban signs than Ryan signs.

What happens if someone loses their job and their coverage with it? What if someone was on their parent's coverage and then became too old for it? Wouldn't a condition that developed while they had that coverage be considered a "pre-existing condition" by future insurance companies?

If someone loses their job, and they bought insurance on the private market, they should be able to keep their insurance. Unfortunately the way things are now insurance is handled by the employer. This is one of the things Romney would change.

Presumably, continuing costs of an illness would be covered by insurance even after you drop their policy? I'm a little less clear on how that would work.

No, my issue with him is I don't like him. I had always thought that if someone from my date ran for a big office, I'd vote for them simply for that reason. Now I have someone running from my actual city that I actually know, and I am still not voting for him.

Ryan has led by ever-increasing majorities in his district since getting elected. Somehow I doubt the democrats are gonna be able to unseat him in this one. Didn't Obama even win his district in 08?

If someone loses their job at a time when the job market is bad they could struggle to keep paying for a private plan. Some people would probably miss a payment, get dropped and no longer be able to get coverage for what is now considered a pre-existing condition.

I am astounded at the disdain some people have for patients who have "pre-existing conditions." They act and talk as if it were the patients' own fault. And, granted, in many cases that may be true.

But in many other cases, it is most definitely not. A patient of mine developed type one diabetes at the age of six months. He is going to have a pre-existing condition his entire life. I have another patient who, at the age of seven years, developed an extraordinarily rare form of bone cancer. Assuming she manages to survive the disease (and treatment), she too will always have a pre-existing condition. To say nothing of the legion of patients I see who have asthma, likely at least partially thanks to environmental pollution.
