I think his proposal is they don't get health care because having a pre-existing condition isn't any different from a wrecked car. Well, except that finding a replacement for your body is harder.

Basically the same thing lots of people think until they have a friend or family member who is seriously ill and realize the impact that stuff like this has on people. At least with HC and Reg they have the excuse of being young.

Yeah, you might be right. I read his previous posts. So basically, in reg's view, a human life has the same worth as a car.

Insurance is a financial instrument to mitigate risk. If you have a pre-existing condition, there is no risk. You are just asking for free money.

REG'S ARGUMENT was that this is analogous to wrecking your car then trying to sign up for Geico in the hopes they'll pay to fix it. I'd be astonished by the fact that you interpreted this as meaning "human lives are like cars" if that weren't basically par for the course for you.

Depends on the circles you interact with. All of my family and all my co-workers are all voting for Obama and Zerban (those that think Law Enforcement is a bastion of conservatisism don't know their officers very well). I've seen Zerban signs all over Janesville (the big one right outside the area cordoned off by the secret service around Ryan's house is my favorite), and I think he may loose the city. I'll also admit to not really knowing who Zerban was until a few days ago. He's running a very quiet campaign and I think his platform is 'I'm not Ryan.'

Considering Ryan is awesome that's a pretty poor platform.

He bucked the party leadership for years with his deficit plan, and now that he's getting attention for it, he's an ass kisser?

I don't think people generally see health insurance as a financial instrument. They see it as a guarantee that they will have access to the health care they need. People with "pre-existing conditions" want affordable coverage like everyone else and having a medical condition doesn't invalidate the value of a human life.

That's because our health insurance is, as previously stated, not actually insurance. It's just a means of financing healthcare. Reforms would change that.

Note that the threat of being stuck with a pre-existing condition is a natural individual mandate on everyone to be insured. If you want to avoid the problem, buy health insurance. If you can't afford it, you ought to fall under the purview of medicaid.

Has there been any recent polling showing him behind in the race? Or is this wishful thinking?

Democrats have been pretty bad lately at unseating Republicans in Wisconsin. I think it's wishful thinking.

Re health reform: If I had my choice, this would be a general rundown of the plan to replace Obamacare.

What happens if someone loses their job and their coverage with it? What if someone was on their parent's coverage and then became too old for it? Wouldn't a condition that developed while they had that coverage be considered a "pre-existing condition" by future insurance companies?

Donegeal is fairly pissed at the GOP unions in his state no longer have the state raiding their paycheck to pay union dues and the onus to pay for union membership is back on the employee. I can see why he would be blindly anti-Walker and his ilk.
