  • The flow of money goes from the poor to the church, not the church to the poor! Silly Ben!
I find it interesting how you immediately turn around and attack the only person who's said nice stuff about you.

Attack? That's how churches work! Preacher man gets rich off the collection plate. There's so much revenue-generating in churches today with the sale of sermons on DVD, dinners, etc.

That's public housing not section 8. In section 8 they give the person a voucher amount and let them go find their own place then each month the voucher amount gets paid directly to the landlord.

Section 8 is the housing voucher program. He was confusing it with public housing which is free housing built usually by a city government for poor people. Public housing was popular in the 60's and 70's but quickly became unpopular because then you end up with a lot of poor criminal low lifes all in one place meaning they take over. The popular route these days is not to build public housing and instead to simply require builders to build a certain number of affordable housing units if they want to get a permit for their big money maker McMansion development. They then give them section 8 housing vouchers and tell them to go find a place they can afford.

That way the poor people get sprinkled all around the city instead of getting concentrated all in one place which becomes a pit of despair and criminality.

At every school in the country? What happens to the kids at a school where there isn't a local charity willing to help? What happens if that charity doesn't have the resources one week? What if the charity wants to feed the kids unhealthy food daily?

There's damn good reasons why we don't rely on charities for everything, and the idea that you could in a nation of 300 million people is insanity.

Sure, why not. Plenty of folks willing to do the work.

They just wouldn't provide lunches at that particular school. Since when is the primary responsibility of a school to provide lunch?

Then parents could pack a lunch for their child if they felt the food were unhealthy.

                    • Regardless, the charity approach has been tried before and was inadequate.

No, there really arent enough volunteers and resources to feed every school child in the nation every school day.

The whole point of school lunches is to ensure that children are being properly fed through the day. It has huge effects on child behaviour and learning.

One of the big problems with child nutrition in the US is that children are not being given healthy meals at home. Relying on parents to pack healthy childrens lunches is not a great plan.

Considering your only comeback to those ones is basically 'well the kids can go without then', there scarcely seems any point.

Yes, it surprises me greatly that the people at Planned Parenthood see the people that come in frequently more often than they see the people that don't come in frequently.
